Tom Ballard is a true “young gun” of comedy, having achieved the honour of being Triple J’s youngest ever Breakfast host (2010) AND the youngest ever winner of the Best Newcomer Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (2009). After four years of 'Breakfast with Tom and Alex’ (and winning an ARIA), Tom decided to hang up his headphones at the end of 2013 for a well-earned sleep in and to focus on his first love; stand up. A new play from Brave New Word
A new play from Brave New Word, performing at the Exchange Hotel, Balmain.

Zoe is an artist, who lives with her sisters Kate and Ella. Their house quickly moves from peaceful to tense, can be very uncomfortable to live in, and they often go without speaking for days (three weeks being their personal best).

When Zoe wins a photography competition and the prize is a trip to Paris for two, both her sisters feel entitled to go with her… and are willing to prove it.

High-level manipulation is at play and old wounds are opened, closed and re-opened again, just to be sure. As Zoe's sisters move in for the kill in ways that only family can, the only possible conclusion they can find is to decide through a game of Monopoly. A game of chance seems only fair... but these three have never played by the rules.

Audiences are invited to come early and enjoy a meal and a drink at the Exchange before the show!

Urban Gypsies Quartet are an instrumental Jazz/Latin/contemporary band featuring nylon string guitars, cello and percussion. They represent an exciting direction in Latin / jazz mixed with world music influences, exploring a wide range of styles and genres from breezy Bossa Novas to fiery improvised virtuosity. Each instrumentalist is a master of his medium and the results are imaginative, mesmerising and highly evocative.
