Australian Choral Grand Prix

Top choirs will compete for big prizes in this entertaining event
Presented by Sydney Eisteddfod and the Rotary Club of Sydney Cove, this $25,000 choral contest is sure to attract some of the nation’s best choirs. This event made its bow last year as part of Sydney Eisteddfod’s 80th Anniversary celebrations and proved so successful that in answer to public demand, organisers decided to stage it again this year.

To qualify for this event, choirs must place first or second in the Open, Youth or Primaryl/Infants School final of The Sydney Eisteddfod John Lamble Foundation Australasian Choral Championships that take place June.

The choirs that progress into the Australian Choral Grand Prix will feature choristers of all age groups. The singing will undoubtedly be superb and the program will include a guest appearance by a star performer from the Sydney Eisteddfod alumni.

Recognized as one of the leading individual voices in the new generation of the Jazz guitarists today, Mike Moreno has toured extensively and recorded his original music, described as being "as disciplined as poetry", to high critical acclaim.

As Nate Chinen describes in his “The Gig” Column in JazzTimes Magazine, “There are many other guitarists out there pushing towards a modern ideal, but none with the precise coordinates that Mike Moreno has charted."

Outside of his own band, Moreno has been called to play for some of the most iconic names in jazz and beyond today, such as The Joshua Redman Elastic Band, Nicholas Payton Quartet, Meshell N’Degeocello, Lizz Wright, Jason Moran, Q-Tip, Terence Blanchard, Robert Glasper, Gretchen Parlato, Aaron Parks, Jon Cowherd, Claudia Acuna, Greg Osby, Wynton Marsalis & JALC, Jeff “Tain” Watts and many others.

Evening journey through Sydney's emerging small bar scene
Sydney Small Bar Walking Tour.

You will visit 3 unique small bars, spending about 45 minutes in each venue. Upon arrival guests will be provided with a sample of the house specialties, which can range from espresso martinis, cocktails, single malt whiskey, homemade corn chips and guacamole or dumplings. And given the opportunity to purchase further food or drink of their own selection. In between venues, short strolls will identify many other venues you would have difficulty finding on your own.

QUICK-THINKING STARS GIVE IT ALL FOR CANCER TEENS
Four Logie-winners, winners of an AFI, Olympic gold medal, two Green Room awards, an Indigenous playwright’s award and an OAM – plus countless comedy champions – will join forces in this year’s Celebrity Theatresports challenge.

The fun and games take place Saturday 9 August 8pm at the Enmore Theatre - and it’s all to aid CanTeen, the Australian organisation that helps young people living with cancer.

Once a year, the really good sports come out to play for this glittering, all-in laugh-fest.
Theatresports is on-the-spot comedy at its most hilarious…and terrifying.

This year, the show will be hosted by RocKwiz and Eurovision queen
Julia Zemiro and the all-star line-up is mouth-watering:

Multiverse theory is explored through the infinite possibilities of a single relationship. Roland meets Marianne at a barbeque. She’s a physicist, he’s a beekeeper. They are an unlikely match, but this is not your average boy-meets-girl love story.

Constellations opened at London’s Royal Court Theatre in 2012 to rave reviews before moving to the West-End later that year. It won the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Play, making Payne the youngest playwright to win the award at 29.
