The final of this historic competition is a 'must' for opera lovers
Formerly known as the Sun Aria, this event has been the jewel in the Sydney Eisteddfod crown ever since it began in 1933. The talent it attracts is always outstanding and over the decades, it has served as a launching pad for some of Australia’s greatest singers, Dame Joan Sutherland among them.

With its rich history and a total prize purse of $57,000, this is the competition every aspiring opera star dreams of winning. As it always attracts finest voices Australia and New Zealand can muster, qualifying for the final is a prize in itself.

The final is a magnificent event and with the acclaimed North Sydney Symphony Orchestra accompanying the singers under the baton of Maestro Steven Hillinger, this classical feast will enthrall opera lovers of all ages.

Join Timothy Hugh Govers and Shane Addison at the Chippendale Hotel as they fondly recall every
political gaffe, blunder and resignation of the 12 months following the 2013 General Election.

In just 60 minutes they examine potential ways to rejuvenate the Prime Minister’s flagging popularity,
attempt to reform the education curriculum and draw the audience’s attention to the most brazenly inaccurate predictions made by the media since September 7 last year.

They will be joined on stage by impressionists Nathan Lentern and Jonas Holt as well as Brent Thorpe’s original creation “Deidre Flick” (self-funded retiree from Mosman.)

Year of the Abbott is an irreverent and playful celebration of the eccentricities and paradoxes that dominate Australian political life. It’s a winner… by a landslide!

An exploration of one of life’s toughest battles, romance, LOVEBiTES will playing at Hayes Theatre Co from Wednesday, 10 September 2014.

From the writers of The Hatpin, LOVEBiTES is a series of short stories about falling in love, catching one half of each couple in the instant that love strikes and then hearing from the other half about how it ended up, giving us a unique, hilarious and moving insight into the separate perspective of the two individuals who share it.

LOVEBiTES stars Kirby Burgess Sweet Charity, Hairspray, Tyran Parke South Pacific, Into The Woods, Adele Parkinson Carrie, Legally Blonde and Shaun Rennie CATS, Mamma Mia.

The original production of LOVEBiTES was staged in 2009 at the Seymour Centre, and then went on to play in Perth in 2010 at the Playhouse Theatre. This new production is the theatrical debut for Wooden Horse Productions.

“LOVEBiTES is an extraordinary piece which was loved by audiences and critics alike at its premiere here in its home Sydney. 5 years the show has played around Australia, as well as in London and New York. I am thrilled to present the LOVEBiTES as Wooden Horse Productions debut show in a whole new way, giving Sydney the chance to be first to hear a brand new orchestration from composer Peter Rutherford” - Troy Alexander, Director.
