Don't miss this six piece Latin Jazz outfit!
Sydney-based pianist and producer Danny G Felix returns with his new six piece Latin jazz outfit to the Foundry following their debut in May.

With Proyecto 5, Danny brings to Australian audiences the classic live Nu-yorican Latin-jazz sound—musically complex but with raw energy and great for dancing. Inspiration for the band came from Danny’s visits to Colombia, USA and Cuba, including playing in New York with greats such as Jimmy Bosch, Ray de la Paz and Pete Nater.

Danny had already attracted attention on the world salsa scene based on tracks from his Danny G Felix Project album (Elegwa 2011). This group will be performing several brand new compositions by Danny as well as some classic New York Salsa and Latin jazz repertoire by the likes of Eddie Palmieri and Joe Cuba.

Rick, Tim, Alex from Dig (Directions In Groove) with guest vocalists and DJ. Old and new favourites!

Funky dance grooves are back in town as original DIG members, Tim Rollinson, Rick Robertson and Alex Hewetson combine with a great rhythm section and some stunning guest vocalists each week to relive those halycon days of the 80s and 90s when jazz, soul, funk and dub all got together on the dancefloor. The hybrid was sometimes labelled "Acid Jazz" or "Nu Jazz" but whatever the descriptive, the music grabbed the attention of a whole new generation.

Australian Choral Grand Prix

Top choirs will compete for big prizes in this entertaining event
Presented by Sydney Eisteddfod and the Rotary Club of Sydney Cove, this $25,000 choral contest is sure to attract some of the nation’s best choirs. This event made its bow last year as part of Sydney Eisteddfod’s 80th Anniversary celebrations and proved so successful that in answer to public demand, organisers decided to stage it again this year.

To qualify for this event, choirs must place first or second in the Open, Youth or Primaryl/Infants School final of The Sydney Eisteddfod John Lamble Foundation Australasian Choral Championships that take place June.

The choirs that progress into the Australian Choral Grand Prix will feature choristers of all age groups. The singing will undoubtedly be superb and the program will include a guest appearance by a star performer from the Sydney Eisteddfod alumni.

Recognized as one of the leading individual voices in the new generation of the Jazz guitarists today, Mike Moreno has toured extensively and recorded his original music, described as being "as disciplined as poetry", to high critical acclaim.

As Nate Chinen describes in his “The Gig” Column in JazzTimes Magazine, “There are many other guitarists out there pushing towards a modern ideal, but none with the precise coordinates that Mike Moreno has charted."

Outside of his own band, Moreno has been called to play for some of the most iconic names in jazz and beyond today, such as The Joshua Redman Elastic Band, Nicholas Payton Quartet, Meshell N’Degeocello, Lizz Wright, Jason Moran, Q-Tip, Terence Blanchard, Robert Glasper, Gretchen Parlato, Aaron Parks, Jon Cowherd, Claudia Acuna, Greg Osby, Wynton Marsalis & JALC, Jeff “Tain” Watts and many others.

Multiverse theory is explored through the infinite possibilities of a single relationship. Roland meets Marianne at a barbeque. She’s a physicist, he’s a beekeeper. They are an unlikely match, but this is not your average boy-meets-girl love story.

Constellations opened at London’s Royal Court Theatre in 2012 to rave reviews before moving to the West-End later that year. It won the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Play, making Payne the youngest playwright to win the award at 29.
