Award winning French Chanteuse Tricia Evy returns to Sydney's chic new jazz club, Foundry616, following the sell-out launch in February of her long awaited second CD Meet Me and thrilling subsequent show.

Meet Me has already received great reviews in France,the West Indies where she grew up, and in Korea and includes a stunning selection of jazz standards - Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole - all given the stunning Tricia Evy 'Caribbean touch' that showcase her skills as both a composer and a beautiful lyricist, whose voice is extremely engaging in any of the languages in which she sings: French,English,Creole & Portuguese.

A rising star on the world jazz scene, Tricia has worked extensively across Europe,including major festivals and venues such as Paris’ famous Duc des Lombards, and appearances at some of the EU’s biggest Jazz festivals and clubs including Jazz A Vienne, Montreaux Jazz festival, Bulach Jazz festival, Jazz Ascona, Martinique Jazz Festival, Jazz en Touraine & Orleon Jazz Festival, amongst many more.

Joining Tricia will be some of Sydney's hottest young musicians, including special guest Tricia's collaborator in the highly successful Billie, Ella and Louis show, singer-trombonist Dan Barnett.

This month at FBi Social, we’re going all rock n’ roll, with two of the country’s finest multi-talented musical comedians - the wonderfully glam Jackie Loeb and rock God Dave Eastgate!

Your Headliner, Jackie Loeb, is a jack of all trades - comedian, musician, corporate Emcee, voice-over artist, actor, writer and TV star. Over the years, you would have seen Jackie all over your TV, as regular cast member of Australian comedy classic ‘Full Frontal’ and in appearances on ‘Good News Week’, ‘Spicks and Specks’, ‘The Footy Show’, ’20 to 1’, ‘Stand Up Australia’, ‘The Today Show’ and ‘Last Comic Standing’, just to name a handful. The Sydney Morning Herald declared Jackie as “One of the top five comics” and Drum Media said: “Loeb revealed the strange richness of the human experience. Oh, and made us laugh the whole way through.”

Your Emcee is the insanely energetic and hilarious, Dave Eastgate. Dave also has “many strings to his guitar”, including; comedian, musician, Emcee, actor, and the hardest working TV warm up guy in town. Dave also spends a fair share of his time in front of the camera with credits on a range of hit TV shows, including ‘The Moodys’, ‘Wednesday Night Fever’, ‘An Elegant Gentleman’s Guide To Knife-Fighting’ and ‘Thursday Night Live’. He even has his own band, ‘Boner Contention’, rocking venues and TV shows all over the country. Metro UK says Dave “…unleashes musical thunder with a laughter-packed set of songs…” and Academy Award winning comedy legend Robin Williams proclaims; “F**king beautiful, man!”

Jackie and Dave will be joined by the brightest rising stars: Cameron James, Suren Jayemanne, Andrew Wolfe, Alexei Tollopolous, Delores Lorette and Emma Zammit!

Piano competitions have ranked importantly in the Sydney Eisteddfod program ever since it began in 1933. Throughout the decades many great talents have risen from its stages, Richard Bonynge, Geoffrey Parsons, Roger Woodward, Kathryn Selby and Tamara-Anna Cislowska among them.

In the final round of the Sydney Eisteddfod Allison/Henderson Piano Scholarship, four of Australia’s most promising young pianists compete for a prize purse of $13,500.

As the standard of playing in this final is always superb, the event will delight all lovers of piano music

Treasures from the Museum’s car collection out from the vaults

The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences will for the first time showcase its extraordinary car collection in a new display at the Powerhouse Museum.

AUTO OBSESSION is part of a new Re-Collection project to ensure greater public access to the Museum’s rich collection.

Featuring over 25 restored and original historic cars, AUTO OBSESSION comprises a curious, eclectic and fascinating collection from luxury tourers and family sedans to racing and sports cars.
Also on display will be the Museum’s extensive collection of Matchbox cars, arguably the largest such collection in Australia. It has been claimed that in the halcyon days of Matchbox in the 1960s, Australians
purchased more of the little die-cast toy cars per capita than any other country.

“Auto Obsession highlights our love affair and lifelong obsession with cars. It is fitting that a car show is the first in our new Re-Collection series where we will bring the Museum’s extraordinary collection out of the vaults and on public display,” said Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences Director, Rose Hiscock.

Many of the cars in AUTO OBSESSION are time capsules of automotive history, having had little work done on them other than to preserve them in carefully monitored storage conditions. They can be compared to the much sort-after "barn find" cars in the current collector market.

Don't miss this six piece Latin Jazz outfit!
Sydney-based pianist and producer Danny G Felix returns with his new six piece Latin jazz outfit to the Foundry following their debut in May.

With Proyecto 5, Danny brings to Australian audiences the classic live Nu-yorican Latin-jazz sound—musically complex but with raw energy and great for dancing. Inspiration for the band came from Danny’s visits to Colombia, USA and Cuba, including playing in New York with greats such as Jimmy Bosch, Ray de la Paz and Pete Nater.

Danny had already attracted attention on the world salsa scene based on tracks from his Danny G Felix Project album (Elegwa 2011). This group will be performing several brand new compositions by Danny as well as some classic New York Salsa and Latin jazz repertoire by the likes of Eddie Palmieri and Joe Cuba.

Funky dance grooves are back in town as original DIG members, Tim Rollinson, Rick Robertson and Alex Hewetson combine with a great rhythm section and some stunning guest vocalists each week to relive those halycon days of the 80s and 90s when jazz, soul, funk and dub all got together on the dancefloor. The hybrid was sometimes labelled "Acid Jazz" or "Nu Jazz" but whatever the descriptive, the music grabbed the attention of a whole new generation.
