GALLIPOLI 1915 - HUMAN STORIES - Quick Tix

Event Date: 18/04/2015, 07:45 pm

A Unique Concert on GALLIPOLI with Australian and Turkish Songs
“ They fought against each other in a bloody war but did not forget to forgive and respect”

Australian Turkish Music Ensemble (ATME), with its soloists, choir and orchestra, presents this truly unique musical event in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Gallipoli Campaign.

Come on a journey with MEHMET and JOHNNY to GALLIPOLI to discover the human spirit within the bloody battles of 1915.

“ How did they find the courage to fight on when so many of their friends lost their lives? “

“ How come they fought against each other yet became firm friends? “

“ What songs did they sing in the trenches about the war, their loved ones, their countries?”

In this musical event, you will experience:

- SONGS of the Turkish and ANZAC Soldiers
- SCENES with re-enactments from the war representing Australia and Turkish perspectives including the interactions between Australian and Turkish soldiers
- IMAGES from the Gallipoli campaign

“Do not operate a chainsaw while under the influence of alcohol.
When working in a mob-run comedy club/steakhouse in Ohio, Rick Cleveland gained his inspiration for this play.

For years he had been friendly with a couple of “regular guys”, introduced by the club’s owner as liquor salesmen or “associates”, who hung out at the bar, told jokes, brought their wives in for steak dinners and argued about the relative merits of their lawnmowers.

In short they were guys with good solid family values. When Cleveland later learned that they had been convicted of the gangland killing of the club owner and another associate he saw them rather differently.

At the same time the original idea came to him of a play about a couple of guys with good solid family values who just happened to be hitmen.

DEATHTRAP

Event Date: 12/04/2015, 05:00 pm

One of the best stage thrillers of all time
Widely considered one of the best stage thrillers of all time, Deathtrap is a clever cat-and-mouse play that will have Sydney audiences on the edge of their seats. Broadway’s longest running comedy- thriller is at Eternity Playhouse from 10 April to 10 May.

From Ira Levin, author of The Stepford Wives, Rosemary’s Baby and The Boys from Brazil, Deathtrap is a flawlessly constructed classic. It twists and turns with fiendish artistry, keeping the tension ramped up to breaking point.

Celebrated playwright Sidney Bruhl is in the grip of chronic writer’s block. With another flop on his
hands he’s running out of inspiration – and cash. When a young writer sends Sidney the script for his
brilliant new whodunit, Sidney devises a plan to claim it as his own.

Directed by Jo Turner (The Graduate, Macbeth Undone), the cast includes veteran actor Andrew McFarlane (Devil’s Playground, Love Child), Sophie Gregg (Miss Julie, Rake), Timothy Dashwood (The Graduate, Managing Carmen), Georgina Symes (Every Second, Fresh Blood) and Drew Fairley (Bangers and Mash, The Unspeakable Itch).
Turner is thrilled to have a cast of fabulously talented performers to weave their way through this classic of its genre. “They will shock, frighten, maybe horrify, but mostly entertain,” he said.

“Deathtrap is guaranteed to have audiences jumping out of their seats in fright. But it’s also a comedy. Sharp, witty, and brilliantly self-referential. The comedy lowers your guard just enough to make you jump higher. Horror and hilarity in equal measure,” Turner added.

“An absolute knockout.” The New York Times

"If you care to assassinate yourself with laughter, try DEATHTRAP." Time Magazine
