About the Powerhouse Museum:
Located in the old Ultimo Power Station building adjacent to Darling Harbour, the Powerhouse Museum is the flagship venue of Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS). Its unique and diverse collection spans science, technology, design and decorative arts, engineering, architecture, health and medicine, fashion and contemporary culture.

With a strong focus on creativity and curiosity, a range of 12 permanent exhibitions at the Powerhouse is complemented by a changing program of temporary exhibitions and displays. There are regular tours and demonstr...ations, performances, workshops, forums and other special events held throughout the Museum.

Rock Surfers Theatre Company is excited to announce the stage production of Brooke Robinson’s poetic thriller ANIMAL/PEOPLE. This minimalist yet profound production, in which good parents become bad people, will be held at the Bondi Pavilion Theatre from 29th April– 16th May 2015.

Brought to life by director James Dalton (KILL THE PM, MR KOLPERT), ANIMAL/PEOPLE features a critically acclaimed cast including the Sydney Theatre Awards’ Best Lead Actress in an Independent Production, Georgia Adamson, and Helpmann Awards nominee, Martin Crewes.

Conveyed through a series of interweaving monologues, ANIMAL/PEOPLE depicts a couple’s turbulent relationship after their son endures... a severe injury from an accident.

Set in an anonymous suburbia, both parent’s emotional agonies are reignited following a vicious dog attack and simultaneous reveal of a hidden medical secret.

The subsequent scenes will captivate audiences with a raw confrontation of fear and questioning of responsibilities and accountabilities. The Man is plagued by self-inflicted torment over his inability to protect his son. Despite the cost to those around him, he grows increasingly determined to become the best version of what he believes a father to be. Meanwhile, the Woman’s overwhelming fear that she may have purposefully disabled her son leaves her with a fervent need to protect him from everything and everyone.

ANIMAL/PEOPLE is written in the tradition of powerful confessions that all too easily transform the question of who we are responsible for into a much darker riddle. Relying heavily upon voice and interpretation of Brooke Robinson’s minimalist poetry, storytellers will have the audience enthralled in both the humour and anxiety of the world.   more

International, national and local champion a cappella (unaccompanied) quartets and chorus ensembles will perform on Sydney's north on Saturday evening 2 May in a stunning climax to a day of exciting choral competition.

Current world champions, New Zealand's Musical Island Boys quartet headlines the concert, along with brilliant young Melbourne foursome the Mellow Diners and the award-winning all-woman Endeavour Harmony Chorus, hailing from Sydney's Sutherland Shire.

Kiwi quartet the Musical Island Boys combine four lush, rich and resonant voices to form an a cappella quartet that specialises in barbershop harmony singing. Over their 14-year history, they've travelled all ...over the globe, receiving standing ovations in over 10 countries including the Netherlands, Sweden, UK, Japan, Australia, and all over the USA and won the international gold medal in Las Vegas in 2014.

Endeavour Harmony Chorus have become well known throughout Australasia as our premier female a-cappella ensemble. Formed in 1996 with just 25 members, the group now has more than 90 singers and has won many national and international accolades in a-cappella singing

Formed in early 2014, the Mellow Diners (Andrew Bird, Alex Morris, Luke Stevenson and Lindsay Ondracek) have quickly become one of Victoria's most sought-after quartets. They have recently been promoting the barbershop style in schools across New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, running workshops and singing excursions for high school students.

The show starts at 7.15 in the Leslie Hall, Barker College - 91 Pacific Highway, Hornsby.
Tickets are just $30 ($15 concession) and available at the door or online   more
