The Metropolitan Orchestra Presents

Join TMO with Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams on Saturday February 20 as we kick off our 2016 season with an exquisite all-string program.

With the sumptuous pairing of Dvorak's and Tchaikovsky's String masterpieces filled with purity, beauty and passion to lift your spirits, Met Concert #1 - String Serenades also features a new revision of Australian composer Daniel Rojas' Little String Serenade to evoke your childhood memories.
Opening the program, this mischievous, playful work is the perfect way to commence TMO's 2016 season in a sublime evening of music!

Chopdogs Sydney Harbour Rock Cruise 2016

A 4 hour voyage across Sydney Harbour with original and cover bands belting out songs you grew up wi
3 levels, 2 stages, 2 bars.

The formerly and very cleverly titled Schooner or Later Harbour Cruise has undergone a name change due the boys over in Parliament House getting their knickers in a knot. What we haven’t changed though is the amount of kick ass acts and covers you’ll be seeing on the day.

All the way from the City of Churches, Hightime will be taking on the best of reggae legends Sublime plus originals.

Dan Potthast (USA) is finally back after a few years’ absence, the former MU330 geek rocker will be playing 2 sets on the day: The best of Dan P and a set of covers you don’t want to miss.

Sydney’s worst ever NOFX cover band Faux Effects will be taking on NOFX’s The War on Errorism from 2003 – s#!t, where did the time go? They’ve signed up Paul from dividers/bagster to help out with a few of those hard ass bass riffs: See ‘The Idiots are taking over’.

The Resignators who will be touring nationally with Dan P will be giving Rancid a shot with originals. We can’t wait to see Francis tackle ‘Don Giovanni’ better than Tim Armstrong.

Batfoot are taking some time off from having babies and playing a tribute set dedicated to the best of Teenage Bottlerocket.

To top all that off hitting the rooftop stage we have solo acts:

Yvette Vials – Taking off her pants and jacket by Blink 182.

Bec Stevens – Playing a handful of No Doubt covers and originals. Bec told us she will only play if she can belt out Hey Baby.

Billy Demos – Playing More Betterness front to back by No Use for a Name. RIP Tony Sly.

Essem– Playing her unique originals plus a few Frenzal Rhomb (s)hits.

On the run from his homicidal mobster brother-in-law, hapless balding middle-aged businessman Gaetano Proclo takes refuge in a seedy, steamy Manhattan bathhouse called ‘The Ritz’ – mistaking it for a hotel.

Amidst the amyl-nitrate-scented clouds he encounters chubby chasers, go-go boys, bumbling detectives, gay orgies and a Bette Midler wannabe with dreams of Broadway fame.

Then his wife tracks him down and jumps to the wrong conclusions about his sexual orientation.

This madcap farce, written at the height of the gay sexual revolution before AIDS changed the world, offers a glimpse of a lifestyle both hedonistic and celebratory, when anything seemed possible.

The Ritz marked Terrence McNally’s Broadway breakthrough and was subsequently adapted into a romp of a movie that quickly earned cult status.

Leading Australian singers, soprano Emma Matthews and mezzo Sally-Anne Russell share the stage with a brilliant newcomer, bass-baritone Jeremy Kleeman along with a hand-picked band of leading chamber musicians led by Phoebe Briggs, Head of Music at Victorian Opera.

Baroque music is set to 21st-century words to tell of Astolfo’s journey to the Moon, negotiating supernatural beings and a love triangle, in the hope of restoring his friend’s sanity.
