Brave New Word Theatre Company’s Resolution will be coming to The Actor’s Pulse in July. BNW is dedicated to producing new writing and telling Australian stories, and the premier of Resolution will be the culmination of a 12-month development period with playwright Luke Holmes.

Abigail Woods has tried her whole life to separate herself from her mother Diane, the public and formidable CEO of Olympus Media. But when her mother dies suddenly, Abigail’s life is pulled out of control as she is catapulted into the world of corporate media. It’s about how she survives in an environment where not even she is sure who she is, and about the weight of the responsibility she now carries.

The Factory Space Theatre Company creates an experience for the audience that is entertaining and engaging with never a dull moment. This entrancing tale spun beautifully by Brenda Gottsche and directed by Ros Riley.
A group of Pittwater women, each their own unique person, take the plunge and join the local book club. There are books, boats, mobiles, wine and money. You feel there. The naturalness of the characters brings the location cleverly to life. It's a great taste of what this theatre company can produce.
This style of local pub, or festival stage theatre presents works that are well worth viewing and much better than a night at home watching the telly.

The only solution to grief is to grieve. It’s as simple as that. You just have to grit your teeth and go through it.

You can try to bury it; to stow it away in the darkest cavities
inside you, but grief grows thick and wet like moss in the dark.

You can try to ignore it, or pretend you don’t know it, but sooner or later it shows up on your doorstep, bags
packed and intending on staying a while.

You can try to drown it, but you can be assured that it will swim.

The only way to learn this, is to have something to grieve for.

Drift is a brand new play by Tara Clark and Kieran Foster, opening at ATYP July 22nd. Performed by Ayeesha Ash, Challito Browne, Olivia Jubb, Adam Kovarik, Alex Packard and Lauren Pegus.

The Gumnut babies are on a mission to see a human – but only in the distance! On their journey to

Catherine has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father.
When he dies she is left alone to pick up the pieces of her life without him.
She may have inherited at least a part of her father’s genius — and perhaps some of his instability as well.
Caught between a new-found connection with Hal - one of her father’s former students who hopes to find
some hint of genius in the 103 notebooks of incoherent scribblings Catherine’s father left behind -
and the reappearance of her older sister Claire, Catherine’s world begins to close in as she is forced to question how much she can actually trust those closest to her.

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award for Best Play and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, David Auburn’s play PROOF is a passionate and intelligent story about the uncompromising nature of genius and a family’s struggle to cope with the ongoing burden of mental illness.

It first thrilled Sydney audiences in an STC production starring Jacqueline McKenzie and Barry Otto and hit the screens in a highly successful film adaptation starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Anthony Hopkins and Jake Gyllenhaal in 2005.
