Paul Goodchild and Susanne Powell will perform their only Sydney concert.
Paul Goodchild, Assoc. Principal Trumpet, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and SSO pianist Susanne Powell will perform their only Sydney concert in the historic Independent Theatre.

Paul is not only one of the greatest trumpeters in Australia but he is one of the most engaging and entertaining soloists.

In a delightfully varied concert Paul and Susanne will perform virtuosic works by Goedicke, Martinu, Francaix and Hubeau. Paul will perform Percy Code’s lyrical At Dawn on a cornet that was played at Gallipoli during the Great War.

The program also features Flugelhorn by Michael Nyman, the composer of the award winning film The Piano and two works by Alan Holley including Ornithologia written especially for Paul and premiered at the 35th International Trumpet Guild Conference in 2010.

Sydney siders will be queuing to see the hugely anticipated musical about The Seekers’ rise to worldwide stardom.

Georgy Girl - the Seekers Musical plays at the State Theatre from 2 April 2016 following the Melbourne season which commences this December. Tickets on sale this Thursday 22nd October via Ticketmaster.

Celebrating one of Australia’s most loved groups, Georgy Girl - the Seekers Musical will tell the remarkable story of legendary pop group The Seekers, the first Australian band to achieve international success.
Georgy Girl - the Seekers Musical follows the story of Judith Durham, Athol Guy, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley, from their folk and jazz beginnings in Melbourne to their meteoric rise to world pop stardom in the ‘60s, to today.

This brand new musical is produced by Richard East, an originating producer of Mamma Mia!, and Dennis Smith, producer of Dusty – The Original Pop Diva, who are thrilled to be bringing this new production to Melbourne for its world premiere.

Georgy Girl - the Seekers Musical, features all their hit songs including The Carnival is Over, I’ll Never Find Another You, Morningtown Ride, A World of Our Own, I am Australian and of course, the Oscar-nominated Georgy Girl.

Two strangers mistake the stage door for the toilet door and find themselves trapped in a play. Unable to leave the stage and faced with an audience, they feel the pressure to perform, but don’t know their lines. To make matters worse, a third stranger enters and dies under mysterious circumstances. PLAYTHING is part homage to and piss-take of the Theatre of the Absurd, part existential dilemma, part philosophical rant, lots of bodily fluid jokes and a murder mystery to boot.

Playwright, Simon Dodd is a professional television comedy writer and the recipient of ten Australian Writers’ Guild Awards (AWGIES) as part of the writing team behind such successful TV series as Good News Week and The Glasshouse.
