Adelaide Fringe Festival - The Macbeths: The...

Event Date: 04/03/2020, 06:00 pm

A One-Act play about the ins-and-outs of The Macbeth's tricky relationship.
'The Macbeths - The Story Within', presents the iconic Shakespeare work as a two-hand play. It is not the story of Macbeth, but rather, the demise of the near perfect love between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth - whose mutual lust for each other and the throne, produces an atmosphere that is overcharged with desire and ambition forcing them both to fall into psychic decline. This unique production, directed and compiled by Australian acting icon, John Orcsik, is not to be missed.

Short And Sweet Week 3

Event Date: 28/02/2020, 07:30 pm

Week Three – with 10 short plays nightly
Short+Sweet has spread the popular 10-minute format in theatre, dance, cabaret & comedy across Australia and the globe.
Licence to Thrill, Paulene Turners’ 9th Short+Sweet play turns James Bond on his head (and round and round) as this huge Bond fan (who once met Daniel Craig) directs her latest comedy starring David Hodgkins, Rebecca Towns and Eveline Schubert. With Andrew Cohen’s production assistance.

In A Silent Agreement, LGBTI+ filmmaker and naturist Davo Hardy keeps his kit on while performing in Auslan, portraying a stuttering writer who is inspired by a profoundly deaf man. A tale of hurdles overcome, teachers & students, stolen art, humiliation, defeat and redemption. All in 10 minutes!

Steven Hayet’s Dinosaur is a comedy about two flatmates with two tickets to a show. Jamie wants Spencer to come out… but she believes if she goes outside she will be eaten by a dinosaur! Victoria Lewis directs Tara Simmonds & Rebecca Nowell.

In another duo buddy comedy, Lachlan McWilliam directs the thoroughly absurd Trapped by Barry Wood (UK). Gemma-May Bowles and Yvonne Dallman star as the two reality-bending friends.

USA playwright Sybil Curry’s Interrupted sees two jilted lovers speak truths about their respective relationships. Then something unexpected happens… at – of all places – the airport. Reena Akhtar directs Suzan Mufumbiro and Adolphus Waylee.

Sally by Nick Subjak is directed by Adam Dear and stars Charlotte Connor and Deborah Faye-Lee.
Two women share their harrowing tale of escape. What happened and how did they escape??

NZ writer Mike Daley’s A Few Small Hours is inspired by Matt Starring songs and sees a couple grapple with both their past and uncertain future in the wake of an unexpected diagnosis. Valencia (Spain) resident Lidia Grasso comes to Sydney to direct Steffi Gil and Alexander Davison.

It's 1963 and Doserdale School for Girls has a proud tradition of fostering free spirits. It's a crushing blow when the new Headmistress enforces her strict Victorian values, accusing two students of 'Unnatural Behaviour' in the Art Room. A charming, quirky coming-of-age musical celebrating schoolgirl fiction with catchy tunes and witty lyrics. Don't miss this outrageously fun pastiche of Girls' School stories -- a blend of Malory Towers & St Trinian's, brought to you from the team behind the sold out S.A.
