THE CREDEAUX CANVAS: LIVE THEATRE IN SYD...

Event Date: 23/07/2020, 07:00 pm

The Credeaux Canvas by Keith Bunin
The production – believed to be the first post-lockdown play to open - will be presented under strict Health directives with audiences - initially at least - limited to 24 PEOPLE per performance, all socially distanced.

All COVID-associated instructions will be in place, with the venue thoroughly cleaned upstairs and down,
hand sanitiser available and audiences advised to wear masks - depending on health regulations closer to the time. Audiences will also be placed at the back of the room, at considerable distance from the actors.
The Credeaux Canvas is the story of three twenty-somethings struggling to survive.
There is a promising bi-sexual artist, his room-mate (a disenchanted and disinherited real estate agent) and this character’s girlfriend- a promising singer.
They hatch a plan to dupe a wealthy art connoisseur into buying a forged painting, purportedly by French artist Jean-Paul Credeaux.
A window into the disillusionment of entitled generation Ys in the early 2000s, the play is generously laced with humour, sexual tension and a famous, very unusual nude scene!
There are great moments of both irony and tragedy that have kept audiences around the world enthralled for nearly twenty years.
Solomon is assisted by Isaac Broadbent and it stars Samson Alston, Jasper Bruce, Rachel Marley, Tom Kelly and Beth Daly as Tess.
From 23-26 July Thurs-Sun 7pm (plus 2pm Sun) | Then from 28 July Tues, Wed, Thurs 7pm, Sun 5pm
Season Previews July 23rd & 24th at 8pm | Season from July 25th to 23 August (more to be added as restrictions ease)

Things I Know To Be True

Event Date: 25/03/2020, 08:15 pm

This show has been cancelled
Things don’t always turn out the way you think they will. Children don’t always live up to expectations or do things the way their parents did.
That’s what the Prices find out in this family drama set in modern-day Australia.
Fran and Bob love their four kids dearly. Their kids love them just as much.
But they don’t necessarily see eye to eye about everything … and sometimes that comes as a shock.

After a sell-out season at Belvoir St Theatre last year, Castle Hill Players are excited to present one of the first community theatre productions of Things I Know to be True. This show will be far from amateur: at the helm is long-time Castle Hill Players member and legendary director, Carol Wimmer.

Carol, who has directed at Castle Hill Players since 2001, says of the play:
“There are many things I know to be true about Andrew Bovell’s writing! I know that he watches and listens. That he is perceptive. That he uses what he observes to create characters that are very real. Who speak naturally. About complicated emotions. I wanted to direct this play even before I finished reading it. Because it’s more than a play about a family. It’s about love and understanding – and misunderstanding. About growing up – and letting go. About joy – and pain. Its characters are funny and complex and confused – just like any family, anywhere!”

Things I Know to be True by Andrew Bovell stars Kate Jirelle, Annette van Roden, Stephen Snars, Celeste Healey, Adam Garden and Ben Freeman as the Price family.

The Pavilion Theatre is located within the Castle Hill Showground, adjacent to the new Metro Hills Showground station. The entrance is at the lights located between Gilbert and Carrington Roads, CastleHill and the Doran Drive entrance is now open.

Make a great night at the Pavilion Theatre complete by enjoying a two-course pre-show dinner at Nobles Restaurant at the Hills Lodge Hotel.

THE MOUSETRAP

Event Date: 20/03/2020, 07:30 pm

The eerie whistling of ‘Three Blind Mice’… a chilling scream… then silence.
A blizzard strands seven guests at the refurbished Monkswell Manor.
One of the guests is killed. One is the killer. The third ‘blind mouse’ is in mortal danger.
No need to fly to London to see the world’s longest-running classic as The Mousetrap kicks off
Hunters Hill Theatre’s 90th anniversary 2020 Season in spine-tingling style!
Vivien Wood directs the quintessential Agatha Christie thriller that will have you guessing ‘whodunnit?’ right until the end!
The plot is a classic old, dark mansion mystery: a handful of strangers are trapped in a snowbound manor house. And one is a psychotic murderer…

The Mousetrap opened in London's West End in 1952 and has been running continuously ever since.
It has by far the longest run of any play in history, with more than 28,000 performances so far!
It also has a famous, stunning twist ending, which audiences are traditionally asked not to reveal after leaving the theatre.

Starring George Gleeson, Jessica James-Moody, Madeleine Dart, Ross Alexander, Michael Richmond, Lois Marsh, Dan Byron and Nathan Farrow, Hunters Hill’s Mousetrap plays at Hunters Hill Town Hall four shows weekly (Friday 7.30pm, Saturday 2pm and 7.30pm, Sunday 2pm) from 20 March to 5 April. Don’t miss it!

Enigma’s persistent development has seen the quartet carve out an enviable reputation as one of Australia's best. In 2020 they will release their debut CD with ABC Classics and tour to Hawaii with shakuhachi master Riley Lee to perform ‘Five Elements’.

In this concert they present two of the Romantic period’s most beautiful works for string quartet! Don’t miss the opportunity to swoon to the music then get up close and personal with the musicians in the first of this exciting new series.
