The Girl From The North Country

Critically acclaimed musical Girl from the North Country, written and directed by Conor McPherson and with music and lyrics by Bob Dylan, is the first new international production to be announced for Australia since the NSW Government announced the return of live theatre to the state.
Since opening at The Old Vic in London, Girl From The North Country has taken the theatrical world by storm, selling out seasons in the West End, Toronto and Broadway, and is now one of the most critically acclaimed multi award-winning productions of the 21st Century.
A story of American life in 1934 Minnesota, it centres on a community living on a knife-edge in the local guesthouse: the owner, Nick, owes more money than he can ever repay, his wife Elizabeth’s mind is slowly deteriorating, and their daughter Marianne is carrying a child no-one will account for.
And, when a preacher selling bibles, and a boxer looking for a comeback turn up in the middle of the
night, things start to spiral beyond the point of no return.
Featuring the songs of Bob Dylan reimagined like you’ve never heard them before, including Hurricane, I Want You, Slow Train Coming, Lay Lady Lay and Like A Rolling Stone, Girl From The Country stars stage and screen icon the multi Gold Logie winner, Lisa McCune (King And I, South Pacific), Zahra Newman (The Book of Mormon, Wentworth), Terence Crawford (Escape from Pretoria, 1984), Helen Dallimore (Wicked [London], Legally Blond) and Helpmann Award winner, the
legendary Peter Carroll.

The Mitchell Old Company presents, HEATHERS The Musical, a high-energy immersive theatre experience based on the cult classic film of the same name that will have a limited season at ARA Darling Quarter Theatre from 8 February to 5 March 2022.

HEATHERS The Musical, is the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid J.D. When Heather Chandler, the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s aerobicized ass... but J.D. has another plan for that bullet.

Castle Hill Players presents Entertaining Angels by Richard Everett
he British are renowned for their ability to laugh in the face of triumph and tragedy – it’s how they’ve survived famine, war and disaster for centuries.
It’s also highly entertaining: and a good British play is a great night out!
That’s exactly what awaits theatre goers when Castle Hill Players present Richard Everett’s Entertaining Angels, directed by Jennifer Willison from Friday 21 January at The Pavilion Theatre.

By her own estimation, Grace (Julie Mathers) has poured two hundred thousand cups of tea,
made four thousand six hundred medium-sized quiches and personally baked two tons of light crust pastry… but for what?

She has lived the life of a clergy wife and, now in widowhood, should be enjoying the new-found freedom of being able to do and say exactly as she pleases.
Not so fast! Enter her eccentric older sister, Ruth (Linda Young) back from Africa with an inconceivable revelation, daughter Jo (Amy Austin) with some life changing issues of her own plus the ever-present spirit of her husband, Bardy (David Schad).

What follows is plenty of acerbic wit, sharp-edged banter, thought-provoking comedy and heartfelt discussion.
Add to the mix the arrival of a new vicar who requires Grace’s exit from the Vicarage and we begin to see how complicated things become when a confession and the act of forgiveness meet head-on... and go toe to toe! With Michelle Masefield as ‘Sarah’.

Entertaining Angels is a thoroughly entertaining and deceptively profound comic play with twists aplenty, which will surprise and delight in equal measure!
