THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP

Event Date: 20/03/2022, 04:00 pm

Hilarious, spectacular 2-hander for Sydney
Directed by Meredith Jacobs, Irma Vep promises to have audiences on the edge of their seats in this mystical, gothic farce
- a quick-change marathon with a Lord and Lady of the manor, mummies, werewolves, maids and more!

Set in the seemingly haunted Mandacrest Estate, Lord Edgar Hillcrest, while continuing to mourn the death of his beloved Irma,
has remarried the Lady Enid, a stage actress of all things.
The uppity housekeeper, Jane, has her doubts Enid will ever measure up to the esteemed Irma and behaves accordingly.
Meanwhile, dear old Nicodemus, who fancies Jane and the local milk maid, does his best to serve his Lord and master and keep the wolves at bay.
When Lord Edgar decides to travel to Egypt, well, things start to get a little out of hand and a bit silly!

You’d be forgiven for assuming there are several cast members featured in this show… but no!
Just two VERY busy actors run the gauntlet, portraying at least 8 characters. Don’t even try to keep count!

Paul Sztelma and Richard Littlehales will have audiences mesmerized as they change from one character to another - sometimes right before their eyes!
Meredith Jacobs, who has directed some great comedies at The Pavilion - such as Secret Bridesmaids’ Business,
A Bad Year for Tomatoes, the Neil Simon classic, Biloxi Blues, and 2021’s smash hit Always a Bridesmaid -
is really enjoying the challenge and the fun of putting this show together.

Once again, Castle Hill Players deliver on a promise – a great night out at The Pavilion!

NORTHERN SERENADES

Event Date: 20/03/2022, 04:00 pm

Kenthurst - The Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra
For connoisseurs and lovers of string music, “Northern Serenades” is a dream come true.
In the late-19th century, the serenade was the vehicle for exquisite writing by some of the biggest names of the era, including Edward Elgar and Hugo Wolf.
These relatively brief pieces, among them some very well-known works, are filled with tuneful music that highlights the expressive way that string players were performing at the time.

The Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra's co-artistic director Rachael Beesley (pictured above), who will direct this program from the violin, is looking forward to reinvigorating the full expressive potential of this late-19th and early-20th century repertoire.

This tour is also about rekindling that all-important connection with the audience, and between the orchestra’s musicians:

“We have heard so many stories, recently, about people’s desperate longing to hear live music, says Rachael Beesley.
“It seems clear that that screen-based experience just does not create those lasting, living memories that we all need and treasure. We’re thrilled to be able to meet our audience back in the concert hall again, and we want to assure everyone that Covid-safety measures are in place in all our venues.”

In addition to Elgar’s much loved Serenade for Strings in E minor and Hugo Wolf’s Italian Serenade, the Northern Serenades audience will be treated to Gustav Holst’s energetic St Paul's Suite as well as a rarely heard gem by Victor Herbert – a man far better known as a giant of the American musical.
A touch of the new will be added to this program through a new Australian string arrangement – by Shauna Beesley – of Robert Schumann’s imaginative Fantasiestücke (Fantasy Pieces).

Jacinda Patty is “Tinder Cindy”. She’s hot – gorgeous, not just hilarious - and she’s ready to rock the Newcastle Fringe
before taking her show on to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in April.

Potted Potter

Event Date: 01/03/2022, 07:30 pm

POTTED POTTER in Brisbane
2021 marked the 15th Anniversary of the international smash hit Harry Potter parody POTTED POTTER, however, due to Covid lockdown, the celebrations were put on hold. The show’s producer James Seabright is delighted to announce that its creators Daniel Clarkson and Jeff Turner, will be coming to Australia to perform in the rescheduled shows, alongside seasoned performers and fellow Brits Scott Hoatson and Joseph Maudsley. With two casts in Australia for the new tour dates, these wizards are ready for anything!

The 2022 season opens in Brisbane on 1 March then travels to the Sunshine Coast, onto Adelaide, a return season in Sydney, then to Newcastle and finishes in Perth on 24 April.

When announcing their trip Down Under Dan and Jeff said 'We’re so thrilled to be bringing Potted Potter back to Australia with our fellow Brits Scott Hoatson and Joe Maudsley. Although the show has been ‘down under’ several times, this is the first time we’ve been able to join the tour together. We can’t wait to enjoy the finer things in life, like Tim Tams, Vegemite and Quidditch, Aussie Rules style! This will be something you don’t want to miss!'

POTTED POTTER – The Unauthorized Harry Experience – A Parody by Dan and Jeff takes on the ultimate challenge of condensing all seven Harry Potter books (and a real-life game of Quidditch) into seventy hilarious minutes. Even if you don’t know the difference between a horcrux and a Hufflepuff, this fantastically funny show that features all your favourite characters, a special appearance from a fire-breathing dragon, endless costumes, brilliant songs, ridiculous props and a generous helping of Hogwarts magic will make you roar with laughter.

This Best Entertainment, Family Olivier Award Nominee and double Best Of Las Vegas 2019 award-winning show is perfect for ages six to Dumbledore (who is very old indeed).
