Event Date: 01/12/2021, 10:00 am

Sydney Tower Eye’s exhibition features over 20 models
The winning tickets are for a family pass which is valid for any day the exhibition is showing.

Brickman Cities powered by LEGO® CITY, created by LEGO® Masters Australia judge Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught, explores the life and architecture of five of the world’s greatest cities - New York, London, Tokyo, Dubai and, of course, Sydney. The focal point is a replica of the Sydney Tower made from over 30,000 LEGO® bricks which took over 100 hours to build.

Sydney Tower Eye’s exhibition features over 20 models created from over 600,000 LEGO® bricks, including eight massive never-before-seen-in-Sydney LEGO® brick skyscrapers including Sydney’s Deutsche Bank and Capita Centre, as well as London’s 30 St Mary Axe, also known as The Gherkin. Visitors can trace each city’s evolution all the way from 1000AD to today in a fun and educational way.

THE LYIN QUEEN

Event Date: 01/12/2021, 08:00 pm

The riotous musical comedy 145 million years in the making
Multi-award winning star of stage and screen TODD MCKENNEY will join TREVOR ASHLEY in The Lyin' Queen at the Sydney Opera House from 30 November. Todd will play philanthropic scientist Dr. Richard Rabbitborough, who has created a new theme park near Maroochydore filled with exotic creatures.
When making this momentous announcement Trevor said "I couldn't be more thrilled that Todd has joined the cast of the show. He's an Aussie legend and has the best sense of humour, so can't wait to be on stage with him in this outrageously hilarious comedy.”
Joining Trevor and Todd is American Psycho stand out Shannon Dooley, Shauntelle Benjamin (Book of Mormon) and Brendan Irving (Rocky Horror Show). The extraordinary costumes are by Angie White (Heathers, Mack & Mabel) and choreography by Cameron Mitchell (Catch Me If You Can, Calamity Jane) with lighting design by Gavan Swift (Harry Potter, Heathers).
This critically acclaimed adults only musical comedy takes no prisoners as it brings together the multi-award (losing) team who brought you Fat Swan, Little Orphan TrAshley and the smash hit The Bodybag.
THE LYIN’ QUEEN brings you dinosaurs, politics, parodies and inflatable gorilla anatomy in this updated and revised adults-only comic extravaganza. Hilarious, hysterical and totes inappropes, there won’t be a dry seat in the house.

The Lovely Bones

Event Date: 23/11/2021, 07:30 pm

New Theatre is thrilled to announced we are reopening in November
The Lovely Bones is a coming-of-age story with a supernatural twist.

Susie Salmon is a typical 14yo girl, with all the usual preoccupations: she wants to be gorgeous, she has secret crushes, and favourite things. There’s just one small difference: Susie is dead, lured into a hideaway in a cornfield, and subsequently raped and murdered.

From beyond the grave, she now observes her grieving family: her father, obsessed with finding her killer and getting justice; her mother, looking to escape the unbearable pain of losing her child by forging a new life; and her clever sister, discovering boys and embarking of the journey that Susie herself never had the chance to take.

And Susie is trying to find a way to help.

Alice Sebold’s best-selling novel turned the horror-thriller trope of a crime and its aftermath into an elegiac meditation on life, love and loss. As she herself wrote: “the line between the living and the dead could be murky and blurred.”

Award-winning British playwright Bryony Lavery has taken Sebold’s beautiful novel and created a visceral performance text, both sparse and dense, that also surprises with its humour and verve.

New Theatre is thrilled to be presenting the Australian premiere of this work.

“A stunning adaptation” British Theatre Guide

New Theatre welcomes back director Deborah Mulhall, well-known to our audiences for her productions of Pygmalion and The Lieutenant of Inishmore.

Michael Shafar -For Sale: New Jokes, Never...

Event Date: 25/11/2021, 07:00 pm

Michael Shafar at The Factory Theatre
As seen and heard on Network 10’s The Project and Studio 10, ABC’s Comedy Bites, triple j’s Good Az Friday and more!

Double-dosed with AstraZeneca (because he’s not a coward), the cancer surviving Michael Shafar is back licking everything again! He's also returning to the stage to solve all of the world’s problems the only way he knows how: by telling jokes.

How do we get everyone vaccinated? How do we solve racism? How do you fold a fitted bed sheet? Michael promises to offer pragmatic solutions to all of these problems and more (except for the question about the bed sheet as that would require some sort of dark magic that most humans do not possess, so in the meantime just roll it up, throw it in a drawer and try to move on with your life).

Since leaving a career in law, Michael has been busy justifying that decision to his Jewish mother. He has (somewhat) achieved that having sold out shows around the country.

This is a show that everyone will enjoy, unless you’re an anti-vaxxer. In which case, forge a vaccine passport and come along to be relentlessly mocked.

Bad Luck Banging Or Loony Porn

Event Date: 25/11/2021, 06:00 pm

Winner of the Golden Bear for Best Film at The Berlinale 2021
The film is showing in cinemas across Australia. Tickets will be valid for any showing of the film.
A video goes viral. It shows a man and a woman having sex while wearing masks. The woman is, nevertheless, identified. Too bad she is a teacher and supposed to be a role model. And this, moreover, in a (post-socialist but ultimately any) society that is about to get lost in a social network discourse of would-be healing squeaky-clean attitudes, pseudo-political knowing-it-all, sanctimonious chauvinism and grotesque conspiracy theories. Everyone has an opinion. The debate turns into a tribunal – about consensual sex, pornography and more.
Always up for innovative cinematic experiments, Radu Jude has crafted from this constellation an intelligent, satirical triptych: with its nonchalantly precise camerawork and manic humour found in the stress of everyday life on Bucharest’s streets, the first part shows us what contemporary cinema at the documentary-fiction interface can look like. The second part is an offbeat series of laconic, static images intended as an encyclopaedia of the symbols of our time. The film’s grand – albeit open-ended – finale is a discussion held at the school in which judgement is passed on our heroine’s right to exist.
