The world premiere of a hilarious and risqué musical, Melbourne
This is a Quick Tix but open to all Melbourne Members.

Dickie Gross Productions Pty Ltd Presents
The world premiere of a hilarious and risqué musical.

In a stroke of genius casting Gross announced the leads will feature married couple CHRISTIE WHELAN BROWNE who will play Kate and ROHAN BROWNE who will play Rupert who will play a married couple,

Dick Gross AM, writer, and composer said, “In this buoyant, occasionally saucy musical, the protagonists fight the system to stay together. Twenty songs explore this journey.” he added, “In this play, everyone cannot wait to split except for one couple. What is the nature of the long-term, mature love in our lives?”

Gross went on to explain the play. What if you lived in a world where divorce was compulsory? But you were still in love?

Lifelong love is unbearable. In this dystopian world where all marriages must end at 13 years, a couple fights to stay together for love.

Kate and Rupert live in a world where love is not forever …in their world as life expectancy has grown from 35 to 85, those extra 50 years make lifelong marriage unendurable: awful in fact. So, by law, everyone must divorce after 13 years.

BUT Kate and Rupert are in love.

Explore not only the nature of love in its middle stages but also confront middle-aged issues that we all must face at some time such as having children or not, the joys of coffee, post-menopausal sex, masturbation, and the male midlife crisis!

Kate and Rupert fight the 13-year rule and declare …. Marriage must live on …….

Join us on this incredibly special musical journey.

Melbourne Comedy Festival
You might know Michael Shafar from his appearances on Network 10's The Project and Studio 10, or ABC's Comedy Bites, or his debut special (A)LIVE on Amazon Prime. You might even be one of the 70+ million people who has seen his videos online.

It's also entirely possible that you don't know Michael at all. Either way, you'll enjoy his show, because this Jewish, testicular cancer survivor, lawyer-turned-comedian has solutions to all of the world's problems.

Michael receives rave reviews everywhere he performs, but his favourite review came from his oncologist who saw his patient perform and afterwards said: "Great show, Michael. You were well worth the chemo".

Below are some reviews from less significant sources:

'Shafar circumnavigates the line between edgy and offensive with beautiful finesse. ★★★★½' The Age

'A brand of comedian that is getting rarer to come by... if you’re among those who fear comedy has gotten too politically correct, this show will put those fears to rest. ★★★★' Time Out

Binna Burra Dreaming Album Launch Concert

Event Date: 26/03/2023, 03:00 pm

Premiere performance of Contemporary Classical works for Cello
Humph Hall is proud to host the premiere performance of six appealing musical creations of respected Australian composer Margaret Brandman, recently released on her Binna Burra Dreaming album. Her music for this album, inspired by nature, dreams, and astrological themes, is filled with memorable melodies, delicious harmonies, and intriguing rhythms. In addition to the works on the album, two previously recorded works for the 'cello will be performed.

Enjoy the rich sound of Sydney Symphony Orchestra's Fellow Ariel Volovelsky’s sensitive and spell-binding ‘cello interpretations working hand-in-hand with Margaret Brandman’s performance of her interwoven piano lines. The composer will speak about her inspiration for each of the works, and provide insights for teachers and students who may wish to perform them for recitals.

In early February the album was CD on FINE MUSIC and is currently a featured new release at JB Hi Fi stores.

There will be an album signing session and an opportunity to meet with the composer following the concert.

Event Date: 25/03/2023, 10:00 am

National Pet Show is heading to Melbourne
Taking place Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March at Melbourne Showgrounds, Ascot Vale, it’s the perfect event for pet-loving Victorians

It’s clear that Victorians love their pets with the state announcing its first ever pet census will be
conducted this year.
With pet ownership rates increasing nationwide with 69% of households in Australia currently
owning pets, the appetite for an event dedicated to positive pet ownership - whether they be furry,
slimy or scaly, is strong. That is why following its success in Sydney, Australia’s first national pet show
is heading to Melbourne.
Managing Director, Cameron Just, says, “Following the success of our inaugural show, we are
thrilled to once again host our event, this time in Melbourne. We’ve already had an overwhelming
response from local businesses excited to be involved in the show as exhibitors and from residents
that are eager to attend as guests.”
“The Pet Show is committed to providing an educational experience that celebrates the most loving
family members in our lives. We’re looking forward to bringing the best that the industry has to offer
to the state giving pet owners the chance to explore and immerse themselves in all things pets as
they get up close with their favourite animals.”
The Pet Show will bring together a range of experts including local Victorians Dr Kate Mornement
and Erin Funnel, Queen of Ants as well as interstate talent - Dr Katrina Warren, Dr Kate Adams, Ben
Dessen, Dr Audrey and Dr Alison Shen. There will also be a large range of exhibitors including KONG,
PETstock, Whimzees, Ziwi, Blackmore's, Reptile One, Dymax, Prime 100 and Georgie Paws
showcasing the most innovative products and offering exclusive event-only deals so shoppers can
pamper their treasured pet(s).

HEAVENLY BACH FOR EASTER

Event Date: 24/03/2023, 07:30 pm

Bach Akademie Australia reaches for the sky in 2023 opener in Sydney
Bach Akademie Australia returns to the Sydney concert scene this Easter, launching its 2023 “Music in the Castle of Heaven” season, with the master’s towering Missa Brevis in F.
The thrilling program by Australia's premiere exponents of the composer's work is led by Bach doyen and violin virtuoso Madeleine Easton - who has famously been invited to perform at the coronation of King Charles in May (see separate attached release).

Madeleine and her Akademie will also perform the Easter Cantata BWV 66 and a tender funeral motet
in March concerts at two spectacular and acoustically stunning Sydney venues.

Featuring some of Australia’s finest instrumental and vocal interpreters of early music and supported by an all-star orchestra and choir, Bach Akademie Australia is widely regarded as one of the brightest stars in Australia’s musical firmament.

Says Easton: “Easter is one of the most special times of year, offering us an opportunity to both reflect, celebrate, and come together. In our first concert of 2023, we focus on Bach’s music for Easter. This incredibly important time of year provided him with compositional opportunities unequaled except for Christmas.

Jane Bell - SLOPS

Event Date: 29/03/2023, 06:40 am

Check out Jane Bell in SLOPS, a debut MICF 2023 show!
Jane Bell is a 32-year-old ex-corporate-ladder-climber and current kids’ party clown. A former engineer, competitive eater, winemaker, wedding planner, startup guru, astrophysicist, bartender and debt collector, Jane has done EVERYTHING – sloppily.

A mix of chaotic sketch comedy, stories, and stand-up, SLOPS explores the messy, disorganised, and frantic parts of us all – particularly for anyone who has ever wondered “Is this it?” after signing up for a 9-5 job with unpaid overtime, mountains of debt, and not enough skills to boil an egg.

But is a sloppy life a happy life? There’s only one way to find out. Slop your way through a quarter-life crisis with Jane Bell.

Jane Bell is a regular performer in the Melbourne comedy scene, currently in the midst of her fourth quarter-life crisis (assuming she'll live to 128). SLOPS is Jane’s debut solo show, premiering at Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2023.
