Guneet Kaur is a writer, stand-up comedian, and producer of Sydney’s only women’s comedy night, Yeah The Girls comedy. She made her way onto Sydney’s comedy scene a few years ago and has been leaving audiences in stitches ever since. Guneet became a RAW Comedy National Finalist in 2022 and has since performed at some of the most prestigious comedy clubs across the country, including the Comedy Store. Recently she made her mark as a contributing writer on the hit ABC show Question Everything. With her quirky observations and hilarious takes on the complexities of her identity, she has been described as both “sharp” and “anxious” by the Sydney Morning Herald. Guneet is a comedy force not to be missed.

Sydney - The play-reading of a new work based on the Kin Platt book and the Reginald Rose script
The Disappearance is an emotional story about a young American teenager facing the combined challenge of his parents’ disintegrating marriage, relocation to Australia and his ongoing attempt to overcome a debilitating speech impediment.
His uncaring, insensitive mother adds to his problems and as things begin to explode for him, he decides to ‘disappear’.
Three people — a loving neighbour and her French boyfriend and an equally caring speech therapist/analyst give hope that his future may be more positive.

Sympathetic, moving and intensely concerned with at the problems of mental health, the play is often humorous but never sentimental.
As with all previous LHE readings, the performance will raise money for the wonderful Actors Benevolent Fund
– with the added aim of showcasing the piece and its cast for a potential later full season of this remarkable work.

Directed by Les Solomon, the reading features some of Sydney’s finest established actors and young performers - and introduces a major new talent in Gordon Vignelles (picture by David Hooley above and attached) in the central role of “Roger”.

Opera Bites has partnered with The Harold in Glebe to bring you the world’s favourite opera highlights in the relaxed environs of a great local pub. This historic pub was actually our first ever Opera in the Pub venue, way back in 2010! It’s now under new management, freshly refurbished and better than ever.

Sydney Comedy Festival
You might know Michael Shafar from his appearances on Network 10's The Project and Studio 10, or ABC's Comedy Bites, or his debut special (A)LIVE on Amazon Prime. You might even be one of the 70+ million people who has seen his videos online.

It's also entirely possible that you don't know Michael at all. Either way, you'll enjoy his show, because this Jewish, testicular cancer survivor, lawyer-turned-comedian has solutions to all of the world's problems.

Michael receives rave reviews everywhere he performs, but his favourite review came from his oncologist who saw his patient perform and afterwards said: "Great show, Michael. You were well worth the chemo".
