Preview Performance of this vigorous, modern black comedy
You can't sentence a man to live!



Acclaimed UK playwright Moira Buffini has turned Nikolai Erdman’s celebrated and subversive satire on Stalin’s Russia into a vigorous, modern black comedy.



Semoyan is unemployed and poor, he lives in the hall of a cramped apartment because his mother-in-law has the bedroom, and he’s fed up.



When his last hope for self-respect disappears, Semoyan decides to take his own life. But word gets out and he finds himself besieged by sympathetic visitors – all begging him to kill himself on their behalf!



However, as everyone gathers for a wild, vodka-fuelled celebration on the night of his intended demise, there’s one small problem: Semoyan is having second thoughts.

Two concerts that celebrate life & music
Bringing their 2013 season to a close in magnificent style, the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra (KPO), in collaboration with the Macquarie University Singers, presents Feast with Song - two concerts that celebrate life and music.


The program includes Carl Orff’s stunning Carmina Burana, the Capriccio Espagnol by Rimsky Korsakov and the Polovtsian Dances by Borodin



Featured soloists are counter tenor Tim Chung, soprano Jenny Liu and tenor Alexander Knight with the Macquarie University Singers and the Zipoli Choir from Aloysius College.


Carlos Alvarado is the KPO guest conductor and Dr Sarah Penicka-Smith the choral principal conductor.

Australian Punk Band Nancy Vandal
2013 marks the 20th anniversary of seminal Australian punk band Nancy Vandal, and to celebrate the occasion they're releasing a new album 'Flogging a Dead Phoenix' and heading out on an East Coast tour this October.



'Flogging A Dead Phoenix' is the band’s first album since 'I’ve Wasted My Life' in 1999 and was recorded by ex-bassist Jason “Jason” Beers, more commonly known as the frontman of fellow punk rock heritage item Frenzal Rhomb and has been described as "a chaotic blend of garagey punk infused with Motorhead riffs and a brass section that would shrink Chuck Norris’s balls."



Flogging a Dead Phoenix was partly financed by an enthusiastically supported Pozible project and will be accompanied by a massive 92 page full colour edition of the band’s official zine The Vandal’s Voice.


Nancy Vandal will be hitting the road to promote 'Flogging A Dead Phoenix' with an explosive East Coast tour through October and November and you are advised to attend.

Flogging A Dead Phoenix will be available from September 2 Through Erotic Volcano Records..

It’s Comedy! It’s History! It’s the Impro Australia's THEATRESPORTS CRANSTON CUP!



Since 1985, the funniest comedians, actors, improvisers, writers and performers, have thrown away their scripts and stepped up the to the edge of the comedy cliff… and jumped off!



These comedy lemmings have swan-dived into the unknown, like ad-lib parachutists, like laughing lunatic base jumpers, freefalling with just their wits, their best one-liners and their craziest comic characters to save them from disaster!


And it’s all for your pleasure!

For nearly 30 years audiences have come along to belly laugh at the antics of these brave teams of comics as they either succeed or fail epically!

Every year, wave after wave of teams, scared scriptless and desperate to score big with the judges, play to win their way through the Heats, Semi-finals, and then all the way to the Enmore Theatre for the Grand Final, and the chance to engrave their names on the Theatresports Holy Grail, the Cranston Cup!



Each week they battle it out for the honour of being crowned the funniest, most inventive, most spontaneous and just sheer craziest performers in Australia!
