As they fly back to Washington to face a shocked, grieving nation, the widow and the usurper are forced to confront their dreams, fears and regrets – as well as each other. As the 50th anniversary of the assassination approaches, this frank, funny, heartbreaking new play from award-winning Melbourne playwright Ron Elisha (In Duty Bound, Einstein, Two, Impropriety) strips away the public facades of these two extraordinary people to explore what it is inside one human being that engenders love in another.


Michael Dean directs two of Australian theatre’s rising stars, Lizzie Schebesta (Mrs Warren’s Profession for STC and Macbeth for Bell Shakespeare) and Ben Wood (Henry IV for Bell and Empire for TRS) in this, Elisha’s newest and most intriguing creation. With design by Nick Plummer, lighting by Christopher Page, sound by James Colla, Carmen Lysiack (voice coach). Produced by Suzanne Miller for Bakehouse Theatre Company.

This is the premiere performance of the Dance Makers Collective.
This is the premiere performance of the Dance Makers Collective. Ten dance artists present nine new and exciting short works – explosive dance in tiny bursts. Featuring a live dance and film work about boxing people in; a solo dancer orbiting a flautist and animator; and a group performance by nine dancers taking charge of their voices. Choreographers, dancers, filmmakers, musicians, visual artists, lighting and set designers team up to transform the theatre space into a constantly evolving visual landscape where anything can happen.



The Dance Makers Collective is an initiative that has been set up to accommodate young and emerging dance artists working in Sydney. It provides a network of dancers and collaborators as a base of support and exchange, where positive working relationships can be established to help build sustainable careers in dance.

But amongst the sun hats, theme nights and piña coladas Les, a former WWII prisoner of war, soon finds himself confronted by old diggers, enemies and tormented memories. As the cruise ship floats closer towards its destination, Les’ grip on reality floats ever further away.



An electrifying descent into one man’s wartime nightmare, The Floating World is a resonating tale of the long-lasting effects of war and the ugly world of xenophobic Australia. Following the success of his sold-out productions of Speaking in Tongues and The Boys, Sam Strong returns to the Griffin fold to direct this neglected Australian classic, last staged at the Stables in 1975 and heralded as an ‘unruly masterpiece’.

Celebrating its fifth anniversary!
The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO) celebrates its Fifth Anniversary of local and intimate concert performances with two of the ‘Great Fives’ – the Fifth Symphonies of Tchaikovsky and Beethoven.


This exhilarating program features TMO’s largest ever orchestra for a Met Series concert, to deliver these two popular, powerhouse symphonic works.

The concert takes place in the beautiful Eugene Goossens Hall at Sydney’s ABC Centre, Ultimo.



TMO Artistic Director and Chief Conductor, Sarah-Grace Williams enthuses about the program – and the spectacular rise and rise of the orchestra.



“The last five years have been an incredible ride for TMO, tackling several huge challenges and delivering so many fantastic experiences for both our musicians and our dedicated audience.”


Hosted by ABC presenter and TMO patron Guy Noble, the performance will be a fitting end to a fabulous 2013 TMO concert season that has seen them perform a number of world premieres of Australian works and Australian premieres of international works.



Says Williams: “These two great works are a perfect way to celebrate our fifth birthday.”

Epicentre Theatre Company presents a funny and uplifting story about the power of friendship.



Friends from the West Yorkshire Women’s Institute pose for a charity calendar with a difference… The goal is to raise enough money to buy a settee for the Leukaemia ward of the local hospital in memory of one of the members’ late husbands. In order to beat the modest eighty pounds raised from the previous year’s unimaginative calendar (“Bridges of the County”), the women decide to bare all! The response is more than they bargained for and what follows is hilarious, moving… and revealing!



Based on the award-winning 2003 movie starring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters, the play (like the movie) has been an international hit, including sell-out seasons on London’s West End.



Director Belinda Clark says this group of characters from the north of England have inspired people all around the world and in doing so, have raised awareness of the disease leukaemia.


“Much like the original women they play, our cast has come together with great community spirit and brought to life a story that truly shows one person can make a difference in the world.


“This is a play that will please all audiences!”


ETC’s production of Calendar Girls stars Annabel Cotton, Prudence Robinson, Christine Firkin, Carol Keeble, Wendy Morton, Melanie Robinson, Donna Sizer, Sandy Velini, Linda Young, Tim Bate, Nick Bolton and Mark O’Connor. Sound design by George Cartledge.


Special note: In the spirit of the play, Epicentre Theatre Company will be producing a 2014 calendar, featuring the amazing cast and products from select businesses. Each business will be
acknowledged in a month of the year. All money raised from the calendar and $2 from every ticket
sale will be donated to the Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation, Sydney to foster research
into a cure for leukaemia and support and assist patients and their families.
