a funny & uplifting story about the power of friendship
Epicentre Theatre Company presents a funny and uplifting story about the power of friendship.



Friends from the West Yorkshire Women’s Institute pose for a charity calendar with a difference… The goal is to raise enough money to buy a settee for the Leukaemia ward of the local hospital in memory of one of the members’ late husbands. In order to beat the modest eighty pounds raised from the previous year’s unimaginative calendar (“Bridges of the County”), the women decide to bare all! The response is more than they bargained for and what follows is hilarious, moving… and revealing!



Based on the award-winning 2003 movie starring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters, the play (like the movie) has been an international hit, including sell-out seasons on London’s West End.



Director Belinda Clark says this group of characters from the north of England have inspired people all around the world and in doing so, have raised awareness of the disease leukaemia.


“Much like the original women they play, our cast has come together with great community spirit and brought to life a story that truly shows one person can make a difference in the world.


“This is a play that will please all audiences!”


ETC’s production of Calendar Girls stars Annabel Cotton, Prudence Robinson, Christine Firkin, Carol Keeble, Wendy Morton, Melanie Robinson, Donna Sizer, Sandy Velini, Linda Young, Tim Bate, Nick Bolton and Mark O’Connor. Sound design by George Cartledge.


Special note: In the spirit of the play, Epicentre Theatre Company will be producing a 2014 calendar, featuring the amazing cast and products from select businesses. Each business will be
acknowledged in a month of the year. All money raised from the calendar and $2 from every ticket
sale will be donated to the Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation, Sydney to foster research
into a cure for leukaemia and support and assist patients and their families.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

...the devilishly cheeky, fun-filled Broadway musical.
This all new Australian production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will be directed by Roger Hodgman (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Grey Gardens, Sweeney Todd), musically directed by Guy Simpson and choreographed by Dana Jolly. Producers Stephen Doorey and George Youakim from James Anthony Productions are thrilled with the calibre of the cast for their debut production. “We loved the musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels the first time we heard the music,” said Doorey and Youakim, “and we knew that we had to produce this musical in Sydney. To have assembled this sensational principal cast is the icing on the cake. We know that Sydney is going to fall in love with our mischievous scoundrels.”



The plot is based on the highly successful and much loved 1988 film with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and book by Jeffrey Lane, and centres around the two con men, Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson, on the French Riviera.



When Freddy threatens to expose Lawrence’s operation, Lawrence begrudgingly agrees to take him under his wing and tutor him in the ‘art of the con’. The pair join forces and successfully work the Riviera until Freddy, frustrated by his apprentice ‘monkey boy’ role, abandons the partnership and starts to compete with Lawrence. It soon becomes apparent that the small French town of Beumont sur Mer isn't big enough for the two of them. They agree on a bet – the first one to extract $50,000 from a young female ‘soap’ heiress, Christine Colgate, wins and gets to stay. The other must leave town forever. A hilarious battle of ‘cons’ ensues that will keep audiences laughing, humming and guessing right to the end!

Dramac presents FOOL TO YOURSELF, an award winning comedy-drama by critically acclaimed playwright, screenwriter and short story author Rob Shearman.



Robert yearns for the past. For a time when he wasn't the school teacher who gets bullied by his students and his wife Karen wouldn't say she had a headache every time he wanted sex. Perhaps a romantic return to the hotel where they first met will improve things?



Karen yearns for the past. A return to the hotel where she first met her husband only reminds her of how horrible her life has become since she was single; now stuck in an unfulfilling job with a hopeless husband and moody teenage son.



But what happens when the past catches up with them? Is it as good as Robert and Karen remember it to be? Or is it too stupid, awkward and acne-ridden to even withstand?



Two Roberts, two Karens, two hotel-owners and a magical storm collide in this comedy-drama about love, hope and awful poetry. Combining elements of farce, relationship drama and science-fiction, FOOL TO YOURSELF is equal parts hilarious, moving and spellbinding.




FOOL TO YOURSELF opens on Wednesday 9th October, with further performances on 13th, 14th and 16th-19th October. A special preview for Dramac members only will take place Tuesday 8th October. All performances are at the Lighthouse Theatre on Macquarie University campus and commence at 8pm.
