Event Date: 28/08/2014, 08:00 pm

Deliriously entertaining and deeply scary ...
Opening Night Tickets!

"Deliriously entertaining and deeply scary ... A shivering work of existential mystery." NEWSDAY

Sam Shepard’s funny, frightening and relevant comedy is a scathing indictment of the invasion of old-time America by a cruel new America. The quiet life on a Wisconsin dairy farm is disrupted by the unexpected visit of a scientist on the run from a mysterious secret project; and by the intrusion of a government bureaucrat whose aggressive patriotism becomes a form of torture.

THE GOD OF HELL by Sam Shepard
Directed by Rodney Fisher
Featuring Vanessa Downing, Jake Lyall, Ben McIvor and Tony Poli

THE EARTH AND THE SUPERNATURAL

Event Date: 25/08/2014, 07:00 pm

Classical music inspired by both our earth & the world of the supernatural
Performers:
The Reservoir Trio

Programme:
L. van Beethoven – Piano Trio no. 5 in D major “Ghost”, op.70 no.1
E. Kats-Chernin – The Spirit and the Maiden
C. Saint-Saens – Danse Macabre

The Reservoir Trio return with a programme which explores music inspired by both our earth and the world of the supernatural.

Beethoven's D major trio has acquired the nickname "Ghost" based on its "strangely scored and undeniably eerie-sounding slow movement". Its outer movements are, however, completely typical of Beethoven's 'middle period', and consist of music which is earthly and absolutely human.

Sydney-based composer Elena Kats-Chernin chose the piano trio configuration for her piece which tells the legend of "The Spirit and the Maiden", and the Danse Macabre by Saint-Saens depicts the gruesome scene in which, at midnight, the skeletons of the dead rise from their graves and dance to Death's demonic tune.
