Echoing imprints of those who have felt her passionless witness are tossed like driftwood onto the shore of the subliminal. Collector of encounters, receptor of impressions, observer of worlds, she remains steadfast in her presence and provokes commentary on ferment, arrivals and departures.

Music by Giacomo Puccini and libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, Tosca is a tour de force, delivering sweeping, lush orchestration and intense drama.

Puccini’s melodrama thrusts a volatile opera diva, a sadistic, lustful yet sophisticated head of police, and an idealistic artist, to collide head on.

Critics and audiences alike, often find themselves at odds with the stark contrast of beauty, disgust, love, violence and heroism that is Tosca. It is this very conflict of extremes, however, which aims to define the fabric of our humanity.

The bleak, enclosed world of a fishing village provides the backdrop for the story of fisherman Peter Grimes and his uneasy relationship with the other inhabitants. Following the death of Grimes's apprentice, the community presumes Grimes to be guilty.

Although he is cleared of any blame, the villagers no longer trust him, and when his new apprentice accidentally falls to his death, Grimes spirals towards a tragic breakdown.

The most significant British opera in over two centuries, Britten's Peter Grimes is a work of visceral and sustained beauty, and is notable for the orchestral interludes that depict the sea in different moods.

This is the first revival of David Alden's 2009 five-star sell-out production. ENO Music Director Edward Gardner again conducts the electrifying score, with Stuart Skelton heading an outstanding cast in his return to the title role.

Christopher Tomkinson, who takes on the central role of ‘Henry’, has extensive experience ranging across many productions for Sport for Jove, including The Crucible, Cyrano de Bergerac, and Hamlet, plus appearances for Bell Shakespeare, STC and Ensemble, and most recently Snugglepot and Cuddlepie for Christine Dunstan Productions.

Of The Real Thing Christopher says “The play is extraordinary. It's laugh out loud funny, powerfully moving and gives us profound insights into the wonderful and tragic nature of human relationships. According to brainy types, a ‘Black Swan’ is a highly improbable event defined by it’s impact, it’s unpredictability and our desire to make it appear more predictable than it was.

Comedian Dane Hiser is not in control. His life is full of “shitloads of black swans”; a “river” of black swans, if you will. And Dane Hiser has no paddle.

To call his life “shambolic” and “like a monkey at the wheel of a tractor” would be an understatement as he hurtles through like, fumbling, stumbling, shuffling and making it up as he goes along. Put it this way: watching Dane in a tiny train toilet cubicle with an arm full of stuff and the separate desire not to pee on himself, would make for engaging reality television.

Following successful runs at Sydney Fringe Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe Festival, Dane Hiser unpacks his second solo show for the first time this September at Sydney Fringe 2015.

Join Dane as he explores the rare and unusual events of his daily existence and in the world around him in order to better understand his place in the world. Acclaimed author and academic Nassim Taleb believes you need to study the extreme in order to understand the common, and that is exactly what Dane will do in this show, in a much less brainy, and “hopefully” much funnier way.

“Flaunting ones foibles is part and parcel with being a stand-up comedian, but Dane Hiser manages to highlight his in a refreshing and compelling manner,” Nyssa Packham, Weekend Notes.

This unique Music and Cultural Festival saw tens of thousands of music lovers come together peacefully in 2014 to celebrate their passion for soul and hip-hop, and this year we are pleased to announce over 20 artists and DJ’s across two stages in the serene settings of The Domain in Sydney and Myer Music Bowl and Kings Domain District in Melbourne.

The first artist announcement features the spectacular Mary J. Blige who is one of the Queens of Hip-Hop and Soul Music, plus the incomparable Jill Scott.

Today, the Russian National Ballet Theatre is located on a creative upswing. With more than 50 ballet dancers, The Russian National Ballet Theatre will give Russian ballet a new lease of life and will commence a New Zealand and Australian tour from August 2015. Artistic director of the theatre is honored artist of Russia Evgeny Amosov. The coach of the company is Evgenya Rytova. The basic principle of the theatre is to preserve the creative heritage of the great masters of Russian ballet and to search for new forms in choreography.

The Sleeping Beauty has a special place in The Russian National Ballet Theatre’s repertoire. One of the most lavish theatrical events of all time, the original St Petersburg staging of The Sleeping Beauty in 1890 was a spectacular illustration of the Russian Imperial style at its zenith. Today it remains the cornerstone of The Russian National Ballet Theatre’s repertory. The current staging is directed by Evgeny Amosov. With its huge cast, fairytale settings and glorious Tchaikovsky score The Sleeping Beauty remains the very essence of classical grandeur. This version has all the elements of an enduring fairy tale: romance, poetry, fate, goodness versus evil, and of course, love.

This month, the featured guest instrumentalist is clarinetist Ian Sykes, who joins pianist Chris Cartner for a programme of seductive and stirring music from France.
