PROOF - David Auburn’s brilliant and heart-filled exploration of family, love, genius and mental illness -
comes to Sydney’s New Theatre this July in FREEFALL’s exciting new production.
Catherine has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father.
When he dies she is left alone to pick up the pieces of her life without him.
She may have inherited at least a part of her father’s genius — and perhaps some of his instability as well.
Caught between a new-found connection with Hal - one of her father’s former students who hopes to find
some hint of genius in the 103 notebooks of incoherent scribblings Catherine’s father left behind -
and the reappearance of her older sister Claire, Catherine’s world begins to close in as she is forced to question how much she can actually trust those closest to her.

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award for Best Play and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, David Auburn’s play PROOF is a passionate and intelligent story about the uncompromising nature of genius and a family’s struggle to cope with the ongoing burden of mental illness.

It first thrilled Sydney audiences in an STC production starring Jacqueline McKenzie and Barry Otto and hit the screens in a highly successful film adaptation starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Anthony Hopkins and Jake Gyllenhaal in 2005.

FREEFALL’s production is directed by Derek Walker and stars Ylaria Rogers, Peter Flett, Julia Christensen and Alex Brown, with set design by Jeremy Allen, lighting design by Alex Berlage, costume design by Caitlin Hodder; and associate producer Bradley Barrack.

Under the artistic direction of acclaimed Australian conductor Richard Gill OAM, four of Australia’s most renowned chamber musicians step off the international stage to perform Viennese classical music from the masters:
Haydn, Schubert and Hummel: Sydney 9 July, Melbourne 11 July and Noosa 17 July.

The orchestra seventeen88 Chamber Soloists
- Nicole van Bruggen clarinet, Rachael Beesley violin, Simon Oswell viola and Michael Dahlenburg cello -
bring to life Viennese Classical Chamber works by Haydn, Schubert and Hummel in a program displaying virtuosity, sensitivity and the enticing colours of period instruments.
An arrangement of Haydn String Quartets, published in the early 1800s for Clarinet, Violin, Viola and Cello by Gambaro, gathers movements from various Quartets including the famous ‘Sunrise’ Quartet to create a new work of stunning naiveté and poignancy.
Schubert’s String Trio D471, composed in 1816, shows a glimpse into the Classical world in which he grew up, strongly influenced by Haydn and Mozart. Finally, Hummel’s lively and dramatic Clarinet Quartet
continues along the path laid by Haydn but goes on to reveal a sensuous and melodically revealing character.

A group of Pittwater women, each their own unique person, take the plunge and join the local book club. There are books, boats, mobiles, wine and money. You feel there. The naturalness of the characters brings the location cleverly to life. It's a great taste of what this theatre company can produce.
This style of local pub, or festival stage theatre presents works that are well worth viewing and much better than a night at home watching the telly.

The Eaton Gorge Theatre Company and EMU Productions are proud to present this timeless Australian tale of growing up. The story is based on the adventures of a 9 year old girl Audrey Barlow who lives in the outback in 1930’s Australia. There’s a lot of change occurring in the outside world as Audrey wonders about the really important things in life such as ...whether being a swaggie is lonelier than being a girl and how many eggs can a chicken hold in their stomach at one time?

This is a remount of The Eaton Gorge Theatre Company’s play based on the award winning children’s book by Christine Harris. Audrey Of The Outback was presented at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre to sell out crowds and was developed with support from Merrigong Theatre Company and Upper River Arts Exchange Artist Residency, dramaturgy with Richard Tulloch, design by Imogen Ross and for this season directed by Juliet Scrine. This season features 15 year old Darcy Scrine playing Audrey; Audrey’s brother Price is being played by 16 year old Edward Atkinson; Dad, Toothless & Mr Akbar are all played by Ben Verdon; and Mum by Susan Kennedy. This charming story will be enjoyed by the whole family from grandparents to littlies.
