Resonance presents David Saffir (violin)
Following thrilling performances in 2015, violinist David Saffir returns with a lively and rich programme of three varied works for violin and piano.

Mozart’s two-movement sonata in E minor displays all the enchanting qualities of the master composer, whilst Debussy’s short sonata takes us deep into the mystical world of French impressionism.

Finally, Prokofiev’s sonata consists of longing melodies, devilish rhythms and vibrant writing for both instruments. A perfect pre-dinner menu!

KPO Season Launch 2016
In a programme of vivid and entertaining works, the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra launches its 2016 season with a musical landmark, the famous Symphonie fantastique by Hector Berlioz.

This revolutionary symphony, built around a sensational dramatic narrative, was a breakthrough composition both for musical romanticism and for the young Berlioz. Using the symphony as a vehicle for the exploration of his own passions and fantasies, Berlioz found a vital new path for symphonic composition after Beethoven. And yet, the Symphonie fantastique is just as famous for its exciting orchestral effects and memorable melodies.

Richard Strauss's bold and engaging First Horn Concerto is the work of a highly talented 18 year old and shows the early signs of a composer looking beyond the constraints of his conservative training, towards the magnificent tone-poems that were to follow. Our outstanding young soloist is Alice Yang, a former student of the legendary Sydney-born horn player, Barry Tuckwell.

FOURFATHERS is the much-anticipated follow-up to John's successful solo show Storytiller that played to delighted audiences at last year's Spectrum Now and Sydney Fringe Comedy Festivals. John's stories have featured many times on ABC702. James Valentine showcases his childhood memories in his afternoon segments When John was interviewed by Richard Fidler on his program Conversations, Fidler made the rare call of inviting John to record for a second hour. Upon taking off the headphones, Fidler told John to, "Expect a call from publishers wanting to publish the book!"

FOURFATHERS picks up where Storytiller finished - dissecting family relationships, parenting disasters and impossibly quirky kids. John brings his years as a professional writer, improv comedian and actor together in this premiere of his brand new show. The show will launch a brand new little theatre space nestled underneath the Petersham Bowling Club

Introducing the evening with his own brand of storytelling will be George Catsi. The Sydney-based satirist earned his PHD researching how TV evangelists manipulate minds and public media. His alter ego, the Reverend Slim Limits fronted the well-known cabaret group GODS COWBOYS, of which John was a member.

A hilarious cabaret of original songs from award-winning perfomer/writer Joanna W
'Pandora's Bag' is a hilarious cabaret of original songs from award-winning perfomer/writer Joanna Weinberg. Joanna is well known for her original shows and winning performances including The Piano Diaries, 12 Shoes and Baroness Bianka's Bloodsongs. She is also the songwriter and co-writer of the film Goddess, the cult soccer parents' musical Every Single Saturday as well as the winner of the Sydney Fringe award for her musical Lifeforce. Pandora's Bag showcases a number of bags and the stories of the women who wear them. And they are modelled by sensational (and hilarious) bag model "Chantelle."

The show is suitable for all ages (and genders) and is backed by a superb all girl band of Ellen Kirkwood on trumpet, Nicola Ossher on percussion and Kate Adams on cello.

Audience members are encouraged to bring their own favourite or unusual handbags to talk about during the 'show and tell' section.

The doors open at 7.45 and the show begins at 8 pm. Seating is unreserved - cabaret style - with chairs around tables. There will be wine available for a small donation as the venue does not allow liquor sales. There is no food at the venue but there are several restaurants in the Mosman and Neutral Bay area.

There will be a short address by Syl Freedman, nominee for Cosmopolitan's game changer of 2015 from EndoActive as well as a bag auction in support of EndoActive Australia.
