Event Date: 19/08/2022, 07:30 pm

Presented by Lane Cove Theatre Company
Constellations, the award-winning play by British writer Nick Payne (Incognito, Wanderlust, The Art of Dying),
which has delighted West End and Broadway audiences, is the latest production of Lane Cove Theatre Company. It comes to the Performance Space at St Aidan’s, Longueville from 19 to 28 August.
Suppose that life exists in a multiverse -- a set of parallel existences that contain infinitely different futures.
The possibilities in our lives are, quite literally, endless. Every possible event that could happen, does happen, in one universe or another.
And if two lovers meet -- are drawn together in every version of existence - every possible happy ending and heartbreak that could befall them, will.
This is the mind-bending prospect that faces Roland, a beekeeper, and Marianne, a physicist as their relationship starts, stops, restarts and repeats… with differences at every turn!

Isaac Downey directs Caitlyn Cabrié and Tommy James Green in this teasing, brilliant, romantic play.

MOZARTS TEMPESTUOUS SKIES

Event Date: 20/08/2022, 07:00 pm

Saturday 20 August | St John’s Cathedral, Brisbane (QLD)
The Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra’s TEMPESTUOUS SKIES symphonic tour from 16-24 August brings some of Mozart’s most sublime, dramatic and passionate music to six national and regional centres.
Starting in Kenthurst, NSW on 16 August, then travelling to Canberra (17 August), Newcastle (18 August), Brisbane (20 August), Caloundra, QLD (for the first time on 21 August) and, finally, Sydney (24 August), the full orchestra – including some of Australia’s finest emerging musicians – brings Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony, Piano Concerto in A major, Overture to Don Giovanni and sparkling Serenata Notturna to its national fan-base.

Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony is one of the greatest pieces ever written. His final symphony, it is a grand statement from a visionary composer, and even if the nickname wasn’t Wolfgang’s own, the wonder, awe and complexity of the work perfectly bears the name of the king of Roman gods. Completed in 1788, Mozart’s 41st symphony followed hard on the heels of his greatest operas: The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Così fan tutte.

The Overture to Don Giovanni bristles with passion and intrigue, foreshadowing the dramatic tale to come – extraordinary, considering Mozart wrote it the night before its premiere! Around the same time, Mozart penned his Piano Concerto No.23.
Audiences around the country will be delighted to have internationally renowned Australian fortepiano soloist and Historically Informed Performance doyen Neal Peres Da Costa perform this beloved staple of the piano repertoire – in a very specific and fascinating version.
Neal (pictured below and attached) recently had a new fortepiano built and it makes its debut tour with the orchestra!
As part of the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra’s new emerging artists program, Tempestuous Skies will also feature three selected young musicians from the Young Mannheim Symphonists youth orchestra who will perform alongside the professional musicians.

Let's Dance

Event Date: 12/08/2022, 07:15 pm

Let’s DANCE is a double-bill by Chris Chua (BeatStorm) and Ryuichi Fujimura (Fall! Falter!! Dance!!!
BeatStorm is a collision between a video game and a movement performance. Inspired by games like Dance Dance Revolution, BeatStorm is a rhythm game requiring rigorous, sequenced movement to survive and to achieve a high score. Yet the virtual world rarely demands any specific shape or form, it is up to the players to plan or react to the game’s geometric offerings with movement that will lead to the players’ success. BeatStorm will be performed by Chris Chua and Nasim Patel, where they will attempt to reach the end of the game, preferably with a high score. The space will then be opened for eager audience members to have a turn at playing the game. “A true integration of technology and performance that had me desperate to get up and move!” – Lucy Guerin

Ryuichi Fujimura's work Fall! Falter!! Dance!!! is a humorous, poignant and sincere take on a contemporary dancer’s life, in which recognition is limited and the reward is small. Through Ryuichi’s solo, self-devised performance work, he asks himself the fundamental question: ‘why perform?’

“Ryuichi is a convincing performer whose intensity of thought is expressed in relatively simple yet dynamic actions” Sydney Morning Herald
