A Moment To Love

Event Date: 03/10/2022, 09:30 pm

A comedically sad anxiety trip about love - Melbourne Fringe Festival
Hook ups. One-night stands. FWB. Short- and long-term relationships... The list goes on.

A thrill seeker swiping for the next hot thing. She sets it on her own terms like a boss. It's power, it's pleasure until one day, the tables turn. Suddenly she finds herself falling victim to no other worst foe than... Love.

A forty-five-minute blistering one woman show that explores the age-old tale through lessons taught by her Asian parents, emotionally unavailable men and the Virgin Mary. Darting between absurd digital fantasy and unarresting reality, ‘a moment to love’ pierces right into a love-stricken heart and 27 years' worth of anxiety.

Shortlisted for the Patrick Wh...ite Playwrights Award for her debut play, ‘a moment to love’ is a searingly honest, funny and vulnerable confession about why love is something we absolutely need, why it will never die, and why it’s here to stay.

Written and performed by Vivian Nguyen
Directed by Alanah Guiry
Produced by Flick and Vivian Nguyen
Dramaturgy by Ruby Duncan
Production design by Sam Diamond
Lighting design by Tessa Atkinson and Giovanna Yate Gonzalez
Sound design by Robert P Downie

Murder Village: An Improvised Whodunnit

Event Date: 28/09/2022, 06:00 pm

It’s Agatha Christie, improvised!
Following sold-out seasons in Brisbane and Melbourne, Murder Village is hitting Sydney for the first time with five cunningly improvised whodunnits at Sydney Fringe 2022.

Immerse yourself in the cozy world of a 1950s Agatha Christie novel as Melbourne’s funniest improvisers craft eccentric characters and perplexing mysteries from your suggestions. Any of the village’s suspicious denizens could be dispatched at any moment, and any of them could be the murderer. It’s your secret ballot votes that determine who lives, who dies, and who will be unmasked as the culprit.

In Murder Village, the local police inspector may be incompetent but thankfully there is always an amateur sl...euth on hand to sort the red herrings from the tell-tale clues. See if you can solve the crime first... whether you see one show or all of them, no chapter of this critically acclaimed show is the same!

“Completely enthralling…” - Theatre People

“A classic English murder mystery that’s fully improvised and loaded with humour.” - The Age

“The perfect recipe for murder.” - Weekend Notes

The Appleton Ladies Potato Race

Event Date: 23/09/2022, 08:00 pm

JOYFUL AUSSIE COMEDY AT THE PAVILION THEATRE
The Castle Hill Players are excited to present the Australian stage comedy hit The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race, written by Melanie Tait and directed by Bernard Teuben. From 23 Sept to 15 Oct.
Appleton is a quintessential Australian country town where men are real men, women are real women... and vegetables are not used in cake.
But things are changing. City slickers, tree changers and refugees are moving in. Appleton might just have to face the new century!
However… simmering tensions are about to boil over… Prodigal daughter Penny has returned from the big smoke.
Appleton’s annual Potato Race has never been something Penny cared about, until she discovers that the men’s pr...ize is five times more than the women’s.
Now she has a bee in her bonnet! The towns folk are about to get a lesson in gender parity... and Penny is going to get a lesson in history.

A sparkling comedy about change and how we see our future.

“Tait’s characters are easily relatable,” says director and Castle Hill veteran Bernard Teuben, “and audiences will find themselves being drawn in to take sides until the final showdown. And there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments along the way!”
