Kick off new weekly comedy with our Cup Comedy Gala after the big race!
We’re off and racing…to another comedy extravaganza at Harold Park!

On Tuesday 4th November, you can put a bet on at the race that stops the nation, and then get your laugh on at the comedy night that stops you wondering what to do the night of the Melbourne Cup.

It’s a fascinator-worthy Cup Comedy Gala with the best comedians in the business and some top rising stars.

Your Headliner for the evening is comedy veteran Darren Sanders, one of the most established and hard working pro comics, Emcees and presenters on the scene. Darren has done it all; been a radio star; shaped community television; owned an iconic comedy club; played cruise ships and clubs all over the world; had the very last line in a hit film (‘Any Questions For Ben?’) and currently is in the third season of his own tonight show ‘The Darren Sanders Show’ about to start on GO.

Your Emcee, is Aussie mirth-master Jeremy Keast - comic, Emcee, writer, singer, songwriter, guitar player, beer drinker and top bloke. His TV and DVD credits include ‘I Rock’ and ‘Underground Comedy’. Jeremy likes asking the big questions, like: Is ‘Wuthering Heights’ the worst song ever written? And: If somebody falls over in the forest, why didn’t he get to laugh at it? His comedy comes from the heart and exits his body via his mouth via breath and vocal chords.

Darren and Jeremy are joined by one of Australia’s funniest grumpy-pants, Amanda Gray, and rising stars: Neel Kolhatkar (YouTube Sensation), Dave Bloustein (Writer; ‘Good News Week’, ‘Back Seat Drivers’), Seamus McAlary, Justin Anderson and Emma Zammit!

Sharn McNeill has been challenged by an aggressive Motor Neuron Disease known as ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).
Diagnosed only 12 months ago, this debilitating disease has altered almost every aspect of her life. Her progressing physical deterioration, limits this young woman from attending basic daily tasks. However, this amazing lady has captivated millions of people this past year with a determination and attitude that astounds all who cross her path.

If you are yet to meet her, this is your chance to be inspired!

Shining4Sharn has been set up by her close friends and family to give her the best fighting chance at finding a cure. To give Sharn all of the support she needs, it means we have to act fast and aim high, with a goal of raising as much global awareness and required funds to help with exploring any possible trial treatments and ongoing therapies.

Sharn’s vision is also to help others challenged by similar situations to her own and so, it is with a team approach that Shining4Sharn and you (as the ‘Sharny Army’) can come together and collectively raise awareness and funds for an incredible cause.

Set in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is still married), the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon Ouiser ("I'm not crazy, I've just been in a bad mood for forty years"); an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader, M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby (the prettiest girl in town) is about to marry a "good ole boy."

Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves toward tragedy when, in the second act, the spunky Shelby (who is a diabetic) risks pregnancy and forfeits her life. The sudden realisation of their mortality affects the others, but also draws on the underlying strength—and love—which give the play, and its characters, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny and marvellously amiable company in good times and bad.
