KLEZMER MAVENS TO TOUR AUSTRALIA

Event Date: 21/01/2017, 08:00 pm

Much-loved international klezmer ensemble the London Klezmer Quartet return to Australasia
Much-loved international klezmer ensemble the London Klezmer Quartet return to Australasia in January 2017
with their latest hit album, ready to share with old and new fans alike.

LKQ’s fourth album, 'To the Tavern', takes their evocation of the celebratory
and soulful music of Jewish Eastern Europe (‘klezmer) to a whole new level.

The recording, which they will recreate live in performance for the tour, is a dawn-to-dawn story about a klezmer band’s arrival in a small town.
With a wealth of traditional-style compositions by the band, the adventure weaves fabulous instrumentals
with the irresistibly sonorous vocals of Indra Buraczewska, who features in traditional laments,
a Warsaw Yiddish theatre hit with a hint of jazz (‘Goodbye New York’) and even a song about beetroot soup!

A band arrives at dawn at the railway station in a small middle-European country town for a 24-hour sojourn.
The musicians find their way around, get to know the locals and lead a rowdy session at the local tavern,
before exhaustion sets in as they see in the new day. The spirit of the album reflects current and perennial themes of migration and community.

The London Klezmer Quartet was formed in 2009 by four London-based klezmorim with a shared interest in the traditional playing style.
The group is Ilana Cravitz (violin), Susi Evans (clarinet), Carol Isaacs (accordion)
– all direct from the UK – and Aussie, Indra Buraczewska (double bass & vocals).

KOALA JOE - THE MUSICAL

Event Date: 16/01/2017, 01:00 pm

Australian Premiere of a musical for kids KOALA JOE – THE MUSICAL By Markus Weber & Michael Summ
From the producers who brought the successful season of Jungle Book - The Musical in 2014 & 2016, finally Koala Joe - The Musical arrives in Australia for its Australian premiere season. Brought to you again by Author/Director Markus Weber and Composer Michael Summ, Koala Joe will take you on a mystical journey driven by the spirit of the Dreamtime.

Joe, a boy from Australia, lives far away from home in a boarding school in Austria. He loves the Tyrolean Alps and his training to be a downhill skier. But he is desperately homesick. One night, a mysterious messenger from the Dreamtime visits Joe and tells him: - “I am Yalunda - daughter of the Great Mother Eingana who once created everything. I am the water, the rocks, and the trees. I am a bird, a koala, a kangaroo and an emu too. I am the ancient bow, Toon and the Boomerang. I’m Yalunda your sister and Yoola your brother too.”
Yalunda tells Joe to fly like the wind if he wants to get back home. He tries but crashes into the Australiana section of a zoo in Europe. There he befriends Matilda the kangaroo, Cuddle the koala and Emu, the emu. They are also very homesick. With the help of Jasmine, the orphan zookeeper, they plan to escape from the Zoo. But the Zoo Warden has other ideas! Who is Mr M, the Master and why does he want to catch Matilda? What does the Tunnel Spook have to say about all this? With courage and the help of Yalunda, will the new friends find their way home to Australia?

MOUSEterChef; Tails Of 3 Blind Mice

Event Date: 13/01/2017, 10:00 am

3 Blind Mice in the MOUSEterChef kitchen… what could possibly happen?
3 Blind Mice in the MOUSEterChef kitchen… what could possibly happen?

You know the song…

Three blind mice,
Three blind mice
See how they run,
See how they run!

They all ran after
The farmer’s wife
She cut off their tails
With a carving knife

Did you ever see
Such a sight in your life
As three blind mice?

A bit of a Gothic horror tale perhaps… but it is a nursery rhyme which has been told by generations of parents and grandparents.

We’ve put together a cute story featuring those three visually-challenged rodents, one which is not as gruesome and can be enjoyed by your little kids (recommended for ages 2-8 years).

There will be lots of songs and music, audience participation, silly noises and even more silly action.

We’re sure that you’ll love the show too, as we weave nursery rhymes from you own childhood through the story.

Tickets are expected to sell quickly, and it is recommended that you book now to avoid disappointment.
