Come and see the greatest impro comics of the last 30 years on stage with some of the brightest new talent.

Ever since Theatresports came to Belvoir St Theatre back in 1985, Sydney has had a rich history of hilarious comic improvisers and shows. Marko Mustac was there at the beginning as a new young actor and comic, and he rose through the ranks to become one of Australia's most decorated Theatresports players, and most prolific creator of new shows and formats.

For his new show, IMPRO LEGENDS, Marko gathers together some of the greatest impro comics of the last 30 years, and combines them with some of the hottest up and coming players, to create a hilarious night of ad-libbed creativity and laughter.

Over three nights you will see a selection of great players, from Jon Williams, Lisa Ricketts, Ewan Campbell, Michael Gregory, David Callan, Daniel Cordeaux, Monique Dykstra, Linette Voller, John Knowles, Dave Bloustien, Jeremaia Detto, Bryce Halliday and many more.

At the wonderfully relaxed and friendly environment of the Inner-West's own Petersham Bowling Club, you'll have a night of mad, made-up comedy of the highest order, from the best players you'll ever see!

Oz Comic-Con Back in Town
Oz Comic-Con is back in Sydney 29 - 30, at the International Convention Centre, providing NSW’s yearly, ultimate celebration of pop-culture.
Oz Comic-Con is an exciting culmination of multi-genre content, from across the spectrum, with a lot of everything, for everyone – appearances by film and television stars, comic book artists and voice actors; gaming demonstrations and cosplay competitions; creative workshops and master classes; and hard-to-find, exclusive merchandise from vendors that’ll leave convention goers totally geeking out.
Kids can try their hand at comic art, at the kids’ comic artists workshops, or even get into cosplay for the Kids Cosplay Parade. Comic collectors can head over to the comic grading area, and to the main stage for guest panel discussions. Anime fans will have their knowledge tested with trivia, and die-hard cosplayers can kick off their journey to take home the international title, in Sydney’s Championship of Cosplay heat. Gamers will be getting a work-out too, with Couch Warriors, putting their skills to the test in daily tournaments of new and classic titles. And this is only a preview of what’s on offer!

“ABC’s hilarious radio show – but after dark! And in a theatre”
Afternoons Tonight! returns to Chatswood Saturday 29 September with an all new show and special guest Richard Glover.

“It was pretty damn good last year, but I’m hoping to really get it right this time,” commented James. And in what may turn out to be a once-only appearance, James will be joined by special guest Richard Glover. “Richard and I have had a five minute conversation every day for twenty minutes. We are both intrigued to find out what happens if we talk for an hour.”

All the regular segments, and other stuff, will randomly emerge… as will the first full-length conversation between Richard Glover and James Valentine. If you saw last year’s show and loved it, if you listen to the radio version, or you just like to laugh, then don’t miss this all new live show.

Afternoons Tonight! is a fantastically funny and interactive night at the theatre and a great insight into how talk radio really works.

Expect the latest versions of such legendary segments as This Is What I Live With, Ex, The New Normal and Petty Crime Stoppers… they’ll all be there. Move over Possum Woman and Eric the Breastfeeder – we have new callers you just have to hear! Who knows, maybe he’ll even attempt… Nothing.

James Valentine is one of Australia’s most loved radio presenters and in a long and eclectic career has worked as a journalist, author, television host and musician. A saxophonist, he has performed with many acclaimed acts including: Jo Jo Zep, Models and Absent Friends. James also hosts the ABC Podcast Head Room, which expands on musings and questions posed during James’ Afternoons radio show from 1-3pm weekdays on ABC Radio Sydney.

Richard Glover has been with ABC Radio Sydney since 1996, before which he worked for 12 years as a print journalist at the Sydney Morning Herald, including stints as SMH’s News Editor, Arts Editor and European Correspondent. Richard is the author of more than a dozen books.

With the passion of South America bubbling in his blood, composer, pianist and vocalist Daniel Rojas leads Orquesta La Luna Tango as it sighs, cries and caresses the instrumental and vocal legacy of such icons as D’Arienzo, Caló, Pugliese, Piazzolla and Troilo - as well as Rojas’ own heart-felt, eclectic and contemporary compositions.
Enter the ‘Golden Era’ of tango in the streets of Buenos Aires where bittersweet melodies of love and life literally tangle with voluptuous artistry.
The main set features Rojas at the piano with Daniel Wallace-Crabbe on bandonéon, Angela Lindsay & Matt Bruce on violin and Annabel Cameron on double bass.

The opening set spotlights Daniel Rojas solo with his rich and varied Latin American piano repertoire: tango, afro-Cuban, Andean, indigenous and more - all with jazz and classical influences (yes, even Bach!) and his trademark improvisation… And always passion!

“I take liberties with the music because I want it to always remain fresh and exciting,” says Daniel.
“But besides the fireworks, it is also music that is informed and intelligent.”

The repertoire includes quintessential tunes like the intimate “Bésame Mucho”, Piazzolla’s “Libertango” and “Resurrection of the Angel”,
the dance-igniting rhythms of “Mambo Infuenciado”, Argentinian tango… and even a 16th century Peruvian gem!
