Festival Director Sarah Purdue has introduced the special focussed week to showcase the work of directors and playwrights who identify as LGBTQIA – and plays feature drama, romance and comedy as well as two Trans and many LBGBTQIA actors.

His most successful plays include The Subtle Art of Flirting, We’ll Always Have Wagga, The Bridesmaid Must Die!, Everything I Know I Learnt From Madonna, Bitch, The Girlie Show, Silvertop Ash, and According to Otto, which will be turned into a feature film in 2019. Wayne is a former storyliner on TV’s Neighbours.

HAROLD PINTER'S TWISTED TALE OF BROTHERLY LOVE TAKES TO THE STAGE AT RIVERSIDE THEATRES IN FEB
For the first time, Riverside Theatres will present a play by the legendary absurdist playwright, Harold Pinter, live on stage! Pinter’s The Caretaker is one of the most brilliant contemporary classics of our time and is a must-see in Parramatta from 21 st to 23 rd February 2019.
Following its premiere nearly 60 years ago, The Caretaker remains as relevant today as ever with issues of identity, power, family and mental illness. It will be presented by Throwing Shade Theatre Company (Metamorphosis, Vincent River) in association with theatrongroup (Anna in the Tropics, Greek Tragedy and The Importance of Being Earnest).
The Caretaker follows the story of Aston who lives in a junk fill...ed room in personal and emotional isolation. His
brother, Mick, inhabits his own world of aspirations but is held back by having to care for his vulnerable brother.
When Aston provides shelter to a tramp he has rescued off the street, a battle of wits begins as the three try to
manipulate the situation to achieve their respective ends. As the play unfolds, so does the mystery of how the lives of these three men will forever be changed.
This new production of The Caretaker boasts stage and screen stars Alex Bryant-Smith, Nicholas Papademetriou, and Helpmann Award winner, Yalin Ozucelik.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is perhaps Roald Dahl’s best-known story and has proved to be one of the most enduring children’s books of all time. The story of Charlie Bucket, the five Golden Tickets, the Oompa-Loompas and the amazing Willy Wonka has become firmly embedded in our culture since it was first published in 1964. Conservative estimates suggest the original book has sold over 20 million copies worldwide; it is now available in 61 languages.
Roald Dahl began working on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 1961, but its origins can be traced all the way back to Dahl’s own childhood. In his autobiography, Boy, he tells us how, while at school in England, he and his fellow Re...pton students were engaged as 'taste testers' for a chocolate company - something that seems to have started him thinking about chocolate factories and inventing rooms long before Mr Wonka was on the scene. But when he came to write Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the story went through several drafts until the story as we now know it was released in 1964.   more

John Knowles returns in 2019 with a new season of 'I Can Top That!' on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Hosting a live episode of his regular ABC702 Afternoons with James Valentine segment ‘ I Can Top That!’, John and three special guest comedians tell completely true - totally unprepared stories inspired by random topics suggested by you the audience.
In the first half off the evening, BESPOKEN WORD brings together writers, comedians, poets and improvisers in an intimate celebration of great storytelling. You’ll see everything from hilarious confessions to improvised Shakespearean verse to jaw-dropping true tales told by the people that experienced them.
