37 Ways To Say I'm Gay

Event Date: 21/02/2019, 07:30 pm

These are stories of coming out, 37 different ways.
These are stories of coming out, 37 different ways. From prehistoric to futuristic, from America to Australia, from city to county and from comedy to drama, these are stories with heart.

A young gay man's suicide is covered up, an 'are they or aren't they' boy band, a wedding ceremony that will end badly and a boy ready to confess his sexuality to his whole school... These are just a few of the coming out tales in this heartwarming collection.

The show had its debut in Melbourne during Midsumma at Downstairs at Alma’s, becoming the most successful show for that theatre, and an abridged version was performed at the Glitter Festival in the Gold Coast, selling out its shows.

"Far from being stereotypical, superficial portrayals, its gay characters represent hints of discrete, rounded characters, which cements its artistic importance as an opportunity to educate and celebrate in relation to important social issues.” – BLUE CURTAINS BRISBANE

Wayne Tunks (writer, director and producer) has been making successful independent theatre for almost 20 years. He is an award winning writer, director, producer and actor. His web series, After Nightfall has won over 20 awards internationally. His most successful plays include The Subtle Art of Flirting, We’ll Always Have Wagga, The Bridesmaid Must Die!, Everything I Know I Learnt From Madonna, Bitch, The Girlie Show, Silvertop Ash, and According to Otto, which will be turned into a feature film in 2019. Wayne is a former storyliner on TV’s Neighbours.

The Caretaker

Event Date: 21/02/2019, 07:45 pm

HAROLD PINTER'S TWISTED TALE OF BROTHERLY LOVE TAKES TO THE STAGE AT RIVERSIDE THEATRES IN FEB
For the first time, Riverside Theatres will present a play by the legendary absurdist playwright, Harold Pinter, live on stage! Pinter’s The Caretaker is one of the most brilliant contemporary classics of our time and is a must-see in Parramatta from 21 st to 23 rd February 2019.
Following its premiere nearly 60 years ago, The Caretaker remains as relevant today as ever with issues of identity, power, family and mental illness. It will be presented by Throwing Shade Theatre Company (Metamorphosis, Vincent River) in association with theatrongroup (Anna in the Tropics, Greek Tragedy and The Importance of Being Earnest).
The Caretaker follows the story of Aston who lives in a junk filled room in personal and emotional isolation. His
brother, Mick, inhabits his own world of aspirations but is held back by having to care for his vulnerable brother.
When Aston provides shelter to a tramp he has rescued off the street, a battle of wits begins as the three try to
manipulate the situation to achieve their respective ends. As the play unfolds, so does the mystery of how the lives of these three men will forever be changed.
This new production of The Caretaker boasts stage and screen stars Alex Bryant-Smith, Nicholas Papademetriou, and Helpmann Award winner, Yalin Ozucelik.
Nicholas Papademetriou said, We’re excited to do this production because it deals with much we can relate to today. It is a compelling study of loneliness, the power of family and of how people manipulate each other. It still has the power to fascinate, shock and amuse!”
