A hilarious and heartfelt story of strength, resilience and triumph
Fresh from an acclaimed run at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Lisa bravely, honestly and hilariously tells her story of strength, resilience and triumph.

At 48 years old, Lisa Sharpe discovered Stand-Up Comedy and found the feisty voice that she had as a child. This show is about discovering how and where she lost it as she weaves and twists through her stories of growing up in an Australian small town in the 70’s and 80’s and things that should not have been said or done to any young woman.

The audience will leave the theatre feeling like they can achieve anything and no-one will ever dare to ignore their voice again. Now a 52 year old woman, her voice is louder and stronger than ever. This is a story that most women and anyone who has ever found it difficult to be heard, will relate to.

TIDELINE AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE / EXCLUSIVE TO CHIPPEN ST. THEATRE
“A Kafkaesque Odyssey” Variety

After the unexpected death of a father he hardly knew, Wilfrid is coerced to bury the body in his father’s homeland.

He is helped in his quest by a movie director and one of King Arthur’s knights, both farcical versions of Wilfrid’s own psyche.

Along the way, he acquires friends all of whom dream of a better life and when confronted by a war-torn country, Wilfrid finds an additional corpse is one too many. Only if he makes it to the Tideline, will he be able to bury his father.

Following the critically acclaimed Scorched, the epic Tideline is the second play of award-winning Lebanese-Canadian playwright Wajdi Mouawad to hit the Australian stage.

“A magical night. A triumph!” Le Figaro, France.

“Not to be missed” L’Orient-Le Jour, Lebanon

WARNING: The play contains sexual references and explicit violent war descriptions.

Disenchanted

Event Date: 21/10/2022, 07:00 pm

A Cabaret of Twisted Fairy Tales
Winner of BEST IN FRINGE (Newcastle Fringe Festival) BEST SHOW (Dubbo Fringe), nominated for BEST CABARET (Melbourne Fringe) and described as a “raunchy, operatic Into the Woods”, Disenchanted is a witty, subversive and at times “heartbreakingly real”, topical and timeless take on fairy tales that is definitely not for young children. Set in a Parisian Salon in 1699 and hosted by the vivacious Madame d’Aulnoy (a real-life historical character, with a splash of artistic licence thrown in) it features a host of disgruntled fairy tale characters, keen to tell their side of the story, and answer these questions and more: Why was the Wolf in Grandma’s bed? How does a golden-egg-laying goose find liberation? Are the Ugly sisters’ feet really that big? And what does this all have to do with the French Revolution?

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!

Rory's dad was an explorer. Well, not literally. Literally, he was a geography teacher. But inside, she knows, he was Bear Grylls. And when he dies suddenly in an accident, Rory knows she needs to make one last expedition.

With a plastic compass and Dad's ashes at her side, Rory sets off in the footsteps of all the dead beardy explorers before her, to get Dad to the North Pole. Before Mum finds out they've gone.

A Hundred Words for Snow is about being an explorer in a melting world. It’s a coming of age story. With polar bears.

The Shy Manifesto

Event Date: 20/10/2022, 07:30 pm

You too can be proud to be shy.
By Michael Ross Directed by: Gavin Roach

Performed by: Jake Matricardi

Seventeen-year-old Callum is proud to be shy and he thinks you should be too - because what this noisy, topsy-turvy world needs right now is a bit more self-restraint.

Tonight he is to address an audience of radical shy comrades and incite the meek to finally rise up and inherit the earth. But memories of the previous night’s drunken escapades at a classmate’s end-of-term party keep intruding, and threaten to upend the fragile identity he has so carefully created for himself.

A bittersweet coming-of-age comedy/drama about a shy boy who is fed up of constantly being told to come out of his shell.

Melbourne Fringe
Sweet sixteen would’ve been alright.
Twenty-four and never been kissed is just sad.

Max is on a mission. She’s turning twenty-five in just one week, and she’s desperate to have her first kiss with someone (anyone) before she hits her quarter-life crisis.

She’s no longer waiting to pash Romeo, Rapunzel, or the masked musical genius that lives beneath the Paris Opera House. It might end up being Davo from the local, but that’s better than nothing, right?

After a successful run at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival where it was labelled a "must-see" (Theatre Travels), Seemingly Wholesome Productions presents the return season of PASH, written and performed by Olivia McLeod (SLUTNIK), directed by Miranda Middleton (Come Rain or Come Shine, Not Today) and with sound design by Green Room Award winner Samantha Andrew (TikTok, Shit-Wrecked!).

This is an open-hearted monologue about making out with the back of your hand, studying the top ten movie kisses, and navigating the hellish underground of your early twenties when you feel just a bit... behind.
