The “Biggest Little Theatre Festival in the World” – Australia’s own original export - now in its 21st year and in 15 cities around the world -
opens 15th of February in an exciting, brand new Sydney venue, thanks to a groundbreaking partnership between Short+Sweet and TAFE NSW.
And it’s all looking like 10 out of 10!
The new venue, located at Turner Hall (19 Mary Ann St, Ultimo), is just a 10-minute walk from Central Station
and will be the setting for 10 weeks of all-new 10 minute short plays – up to 10 per performance, Thursday to Sunday, a week at a time.
This year’s festival promises to showcase and reward more talented creatives than ever.
Two new awards will be handed out weekly: a Best Performer award, picked by industry judges; and a Best Original Concept award, voted by audiences.
This year’s best writer’s award is sponsored by the Australian Writers’ Guild – who’ve offered the winning playwright a year’s free membership.
New Festival Director, Liviu Monsted says the newest award will encourage audiences to celebrate originality within the theatre community.

Dream will be coming to Sydney! After receiving rave reviews from London’s Kew Gardens’ season in 2021, this production will be presented for the very first time
‘under the stars’ in Sydney’s beautiful Centennial Park from 9 to 28 April.
Shakespeare’s delightful comedy will dazzle and delight audiences of all ages with the park forming the ideal background as audiences are taken on a riotous ride
through the world of lovers, fairies and fools in this enchanting tale of laughter and comedy.
The Australian Shakespeare Company Artistic Director, Glenn Elston OAM, said, “We’ve reimagined A Midsummer Night’s Dream in a way that makes it even more accessible and in step with today's world. It is a rare opportunity to present a play that concerns itself with themes so relevant to the current state of the world and reflective of the never changing effects of the human condition. It is a wonderful experience to enjoy art and nature together under the stars, bonding with the
performers as we all experience the same open-air conditions and go on the adventure with the characters in a more immersive style without the restrictions of a
normal theatre.”

Born and raised in Cairns, Reuben Tsang is no stranger to the Sydney International Piano Competition, he simply “stunned the crowd” in 2016 (Limelight magazine), with his performance of Chopin and Beethoven at the Sydney when he was just twelve years old as a participant in the ‘Young Australian Showcase’.
Now this gifted 19 year old has truly spread his wings beyond Cairns, having performed in Melbourne, Sydney and all over Queensland. As the second youngest competitor in the semi-finals of the 2023 Competition, Reuben wowed the panel with his passionate commitment to the Romantic repertoire Winner of the Nancy Weir Best Australian Prize, proudly supported by YMFA at the Sydney International Piano Competition in 2023, all while completing his studies at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University under the tutelage of Natasha Vlassenko, Reuben Tsang performs with ardour, zeal and wonderful expression.
There is no doubt that Reuben Tsang is an extraordinary performer with a stellar career ahead of him – now is your opportunity to catch him on the rise as he performs works by Scarlatti and Fauré, along with the Brahms Piano Sonata No.1 in C major Op.1 and the Mozart Piano Sonata No.3 in B major K.281.
