Event Date: 07/03/2018, 08:00 pm

Little Triangle will present Merrily We Roll Along
After debuting with critically acclaimed sell-out production of Sunday in the Park with George, Little Triangle will present Merrily We Roll Along with emerging Australian performers this coming March for a limited 3-week season as part of The Depot Theatre's 2018 line-up.

"It's our time, breathe it in; worlds to change and worlds to win"

Franklin Shepard, a successful songwriter and movie producer in his late thirties, reviews his life, both professional and personal, especially his relationships with his best friends, Mary Flynn and Charley Kringas (his song-writing collaborator), and his two wives, Beth and Gussie. The action moves backward in time from 1976 to 1957, from the disappointments of adulthood, to the hopeful idealism of youth.

The world’s most loved, all-time record-breaking Broadway show returns to Sydney’s south in March
This well-loved, all-time record-breaking Broadway musical returns to the Rockdale Town Hall in March 2018 with a superb cast,
headed by multi-award-winning entertainer ADAM SCICLUNA in the iconic lead role of Tevye.
Based on Sholom Aleichem’s Tevye and his Daughters, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is the beautiful story of the small,
traditional town of Anatevka, where Jews and Russians live in a delicate balance.
Through the eyes of the endearingly philosophical Tevye - a father of five daughters (“Five… daughters!”) -
we watch as he defends and then is forced to challenge the time-honoured traditions of his village.
In a time riddled with conflict, we see his daughters grow up and fall in love and his community of loveable,
colourful characters endure and adapt to a new world.
ts famous songs include “If I Were a Rich Man”, “Tradition”, “L’Chaim (To Life)” and so many more…

Rich in historical and cultural detail, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF has touched audiences around the world with its humour, warmth and honesty.
Its universal themes of tradition, love and the challenges of modernity cut across barriers of identity, class,
nationality and religion, leaving audiences weeping tears of sadness, laughter and joy. Don’t miss it!

Adam Scicluna returns to Rockdale as Tevye, one of the great roles in the musical theatre repertoire.
Adam is a multi-award-winning entertainer having been honoured with the Australian Entertainment Mo award;
Peter Allen Performer of the Year (2013 & 2012), the Australian Club Entertainment Award;
Male Vocal Performer of the Year (2008, 2007, 2006 & 2004) and many more.
Directed by Colin & Bob Peet, with musical direction from Peter Sampson and choreography by Chris Bamford.

Fiddler plays 2-11 March, Thurs to Sat 8pm, plus 2pm matinees on Sat & Sun

Vicki

Event Date: 23/02/2018, 07:30 pm

Lane Cove Theatre Company kicks off 2018 with an original, new, Australian musical play: VICKI.
The work of local Lane Cove writer/composer Rodney Ivan Stewart (Devil May Care, Melody), VICKI is a tale of four survivors of a nuclear attack:
a poet, a painter, a scientist and a robot. During three weeks of zany, serious and amusing life together in a nuclear fall-out shelter, they discuss art, science, logic, love, lust, feelings, reason – and, yes, a nuclear explosion!

Featuring the talents of Cayden Richards, Lucy Nielson, Cerise Kofoed and Laura Bucci,
Vicki is directed by long-time Sydney actor-director Shane Bates (Genesian, Phoenix Theatre companies)
with musical direction from Vincent Fortado.

Described by Bates as “a light-hearted look at a serious subject”, she has watched Vicki’s development since the 1970s.

“It’s a fun script and we’ve hugely enjoyed developing the characters.
What has interested me most though about this production is not only Rod’s delightful but sometimes sad melodies,
but just how topical Vicki is to today’s audience."

“Initially written when the world came very close to a nuclear holocaust with the Bay of Pigs Cuban missile crisis,
it seems incredible that today we still face a similar threat from North Korea."

“And, of course, while robots were thought ‘futuristic’ back in the ‘70s,
we now know that Japan has recently developed its first genuinely humanoid robot!”

Glengarry Glen Ross

Event Date: 22/02/2018, 07:30 pm

Glengarry Glen Ross at the Actors Pulse in Redfern from 22 Feb
There’s new talent aplenty on show when Sydney’s Actors Pulse drama school presents a production of David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross later this month.

Featuring the school’s intermediate level students, this is the play for which Mamet won the Pulitzer Prize in 1984.
During two days in the lives of four desperate Chicago real estate agents, we witness lies and flattery,
bribery, threats, intimidation and burglary —all to sell undesirable real estate to unwitting prospective buyers.
Based on Mamet’s own experience of working in a similar office, it has enjoyed countless West End, Broadway and international seasons and inspired a brilliant film adaptation whose cast included Jack Lemmon, Al Pacino, Alec Baldwin, Alan Arkin and Kevin Spacey. In this showcase production, director – and Actors Pulse principal - Billy Milionis flips the genders of many characters to fully showcase the range and craft of his talented cast.

Milionis says his first experience of Mamet play led him to read his entire works and see countless performances globally.

“Doing Glengarry in mixed gender has interested me for quite some time.
It was written in a world where men went out to work and woman stayed at home; a world of toxic intense dog-eat-dog masculinity.
Today’s woman are not only bread winners but have adapted to the jungle of making a living and surviving.
Glengarry Glen Ross was first performed 35 years ago and its essence is as relevant today as it was back then.
Driven by a handful of self-centred individuals, it’s a world laced with greed, betrayal and ambition.”

This production features Actors Pulse students Katherine Munro, Tony Barea, Claire Brew,
Rebecca Leedham, Livio Di Michiel, Casey Richards and Dean Tuttle; with stage design and construction by Ali Maack and lighting by Kennedy Lee.
