The Greek Theatre Marrickville
Oliver is a writer married to Rebecca, a corporate lawyer. Their marriage is in trouble.
Their daughter Chloe hopes to study literature at Oxford University; however, she is up against a major obstacle: lack of money for uni fees.
But much more is going on behind the scenes: secrets and lies, sacrifices made and their unintended consequences… friendships and marriages tested.
Sydney playwright Jon Glass (Entitled Transactions and Spring Loaded) debuts his third play
The Department of Family Values in five initial performances from 21 August at Marrickville’s Greek Theatre.
UK and Italian trained Australian director and stage designer Garreth Cruikshank (Kill Your Darlings, Disconnected)
says the taut, intimate family drama is full of powerful and timely insights.
When hard working lawyer Rebecca (Ally O’Brien) returns home to find a cryptic letter and her husband Oliver (Barret Griffin) missing,
it sets off a chain of events that result in her life - marriage, career, friendships - unspooling before her eyes.
Estranged from her daughter Chloe, she has devoted her life to helping others, but can she now help herself? And can this family survive its turmoil?
With producer Marg Lennon, the strong cast also includes Rhiannon Jean, Angus Farrand and Sally Williams.
The play previews on Wednesday 21 August 7.30pm with more evening performances on Thursday 22, Friday 23 and Saturday 24, with a 3pm matinee on Saturday 24.

LIMBO – THE RETURN is now back in Sydney for a limited time, and is set to whisk audiences into a sinister netherworld of breath-taking acrobatics, jaw-dropping stunts, and heart-pounding live music.
Combining a fresh and intoxicating mix of cabaret, dance, aerials, and Sxip Shirey’s (NY) original music, LIMBO – The Return is set to seduce Sydney audiences once again.

Lane Cove Theatre Company
Set in New Jersey in the 1920’s and inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, one of many dial painters, using radium to paint the watch dials. But the young girls start getting sick and now Grace finds herself not only fighting the deadly impact of radiation exposure but also for her day in court. Her chief adversary is her former employer, Arthur Roeder, an idealistic man who cannot bring himself to believe that the same element that shrinks tumours could have anything to do with the terrifying rash of illnesses among his employees. Grace finds that it’s not only the US Radium Corporation that she’s fighting but also her family and friends who want her to accept her fate and take what she can. Radium Girls offers a wry, unflinching look at the peculiarly American obsessions with health, wealth, and the commercialisation of science.
