Hornsby Musical Society Presents: Jersey B...

Event Date: 09/11/2023, 08:00 pm

The Story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons
“Ask four guys how it happened, you get four different versions”

03-12 November 2023 at the Pioneer Theatre.

Hornsby Musical Society is proud to present JERSEY BOYS.

They were just four guys from Jersey, until they sang their very first note. They had a sound nobody had ever heard… and the radio just couldn’t get enough of. But while their harmonies were perfect on stage, off stage it was a very different story.

With phenomenal music, memorable characters, and great storytelling, JERSEY BOYS follows the fascinating evolution of four blue-collar kids who became one of the greatest successes in pop-music history. Winner of Best Musical at both the Tony Awards and Olivier Awards, Jersey Boys takes you behind the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.

Featuring hits such as “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” and “December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)”, this musical is just too good to be true!

New film to hit our screens Nationally
Winners will receive a pass for 4 for any showing of the film. So, even though the win confirmation has a date, you can on a different date and time.
The film starts with a freak accident, where Gus, Sophie and Max of the Andromeda Galactic Bureau of Investigation (AGBI) and their microscopically minuscule rust-bucket of a spaceship, The Rusty Nail, take up residence inside 14-year-old Norman’s brain. They can see what he can see and hear what he can hear. The nanosized crime fighting aliens must enlist Norman’s help to save Earth from Zolthard, an evil intergalactic villain who is now stuck in the school principal’s head.

Norman, his friends, and the aliens must go to great lengths to conceal the presence of alien life at their high school, while they try to continue the galactic struggle between good and evil. After all, Zolthard still has a school to run, and Norman still a life to live and homework to hand in!

Pear-Shaped

Event Date: 03/11/2023, 11:00 am

A deliciously dark new comedy about growing up, growing down, and everything in between.
After its world-premiere production in Melbourne, ‘Pear-Shaped’ makes its Sydney debut in a slightly new shape and size. Featuring some original design elements and sound design, a new draft of the play will be staged as an in-progress reading at ARA Darling Quarter Theatre.

23-year-old Frankie is struggling with their graduating design project. Not only is their director crazy, they've also been allocated an eerily personal childhood story to work with - ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Frankie is looking for a spark of an idea. Something. Anything, at this point. But when their sister Kayla drops off a box of old costumes, Frankie is sent spiralling down a rabbit hole of memories they’d rather forget…

Adapting elements of Lewis Carroll’s classic story in an entirely original and imaginative way, this deliciously dark comedy charts the relationship between two sisters and the eating disorder that comes between them. Never losing sight of the magic and messiness of sisterhood, ‘Pear-Shaped’ is about growing up, growing down, and everything in between.

Carmen The Cabaret In Canberra

Event Date: 28/10/2023, 07:00 pm

A whole new, subversive take on Carmen the opera
Carmen is hands-down the most popular opera of all time, jam- packed full of brilliant music and an audaciously sexy central character. But her death is a bummer. And who has the time or money to get to the opera anyway? In this fabulously funny reframing, award-winning fab cab team Eliane Morel and Daryl Wallis use all those hit tunes to get Carmen to tell her own story. Fresh from Adelaide Fringe 2023, and a sell-out Sydney show, it will have you laughing, crying and singing along. Unmissable.

Michael Shafar - Live In Sydney

Event Date: 26/10/2023, 07:30 pm

As seen on The Project, Studio 10, his Amazon Prime special (A)LIVE and his 80+ million views online
Your favourite Jewish, cancer-surviving, lawyer-turned-comedian, Michael Shafar, is back in Sydney!

In his most boundary-pushing show yet, Shafar explains how to solve racism, why transphobia makes no sense and what Australia needs to do to finally reconcile its colonial history.

“Shafar circumnavigates the line between edgy and offensive with beautiful finesse” ★★★★½ The Age

“He’s a brand of comedian that is getting rarer and rarer to come by these days, and if you’re among those who fear comedy has gotten too politically correct, this show will put those fears to rest.” – ★★★★ TimeOut
