Amadeus By Peter Shaffer

Event Date: 27/12/2022, 07:00 pm

Starring Michael Sheen at Sydney Opera House
The play reimagines the lives of Antonio Salieri and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in a narrative fuelled by power, jealousy, revenge, and symphonies. It reveals Salieri’s inner torment as he grapples with Mozart’s genius and sets out to destroy the brilliant, flamboyant young star. It explores life’s big questions: ambition, legacy, and who among us deserves ‘genius’. It was first performed in 1979 at the Royal National Theatre, London, and went on to play in the West End and on Broadway. It won the 1981 Tony Award for Best Play, and Shaffer adapted it for the 1984 film of the same name directed by Milos Forman, which won eight Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, four BAFTA
Awards and four Golden Globe Awards.
Michael Sheen is a multi-award-winning actor known for his extensive work across film, TV and stage, as well as his charity work supporting emerging writers in “A Writing Chance”. Michael Sheen was nominated for an Olivier Award for his portrayal of Mozart in Amadeus at the Old Vic, London in 1998. He has vast credits in film, television and the stage spanning Hollywood and independent titles.

A Very Naughty Christmas

Event Date: 21/12/2022, 07:30 pm

Coming to Riverside Theatre, Parramatta
Look out Sydney! Brisbane’s favourite adults only Christmas comedy, A VERY NAUGHTY CHRISTMAS that has been packing in audiences for five years is coming to Riverside Theatre, Parramatta for three shows only from Wednesday 21 to Friday 23 December.

Combining comedy, dancing, skits, classic carols and modern pop as you’ve never heard them before, A VERY NAUGHTY CHRISTMAS is a fun, intimate show that’s sure to get you in a holiday mood. The show features a live band with eight sexy carollers who are ready to help you get into the holiday “spirits”. Avoid those awkward family gatherings and come spend Christmas with Santa’s favourite little helpers.

“Christmas is a time when people come together, whether that’s friends or family” says producer Alex Woodward “The show was born back in 2017 when my friends and I all wanted to have a friends Christmas. We all loved seeing live shows but didn’t want to see a show catering to little kids. We wanted to watch something funny, silly, and at times irreverent while knocking back a few wines.”

A VERY NAUGHTY CHRISTMAS was created by Alex Woodward and Daniel Venz who this year are thrilled to be joined by writer/director Alister Smith (Cruel Intentions: The Musical, The Wedding Singer) and Musical Director Dom Woodhead (Frozen the Musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).

The very naughty cast includes Stephen Hirst, Emily Kristopher, Aurélie Roque, Shay Debney, Ethan Jones (9 to 5, Rocky Horror Picture Show), Em Whitefield (An American in Paris) and Taylah Ferguson (Finesse Burlesque).

Picasso At The Lapin Agile

Event Date: 10/12/2022, 08:00 pm

Proudly presented by Castle Hill Players at the Pavilion Theatre
Albert Einstein meets Pablo Picasso in a Parisian cafe in 1904, just before Einstein transformed physics and Picasso set the art world on fire. These two geniuses banter and muse on the century passed and the century yet to come with infectious dizziness. Montmartre locals, including the bartender and his mistress, Picasso's agent and his date, an elderly philosopher, a Countess, and an idiot inventor round out the ensemble and stamp their own indelible mark on proceedings. The final surprise patron to join the merriment at the Lapin Agile is a charismatic, dark haired, time traveller with blue suede shoes.

Renassance man Steve Martin’s first play, Picasso at the Lapin Agile is wildly inventive, revelling in ribaldry, witty wordplay, and a healthy sense of the absurd.

A Choral Christmas Celebration

Event Date: 16/12/2022, 07:00 pm

Friday 16 December St Mary’s Cathedral will resound with exquisite Christmas music
In two concerts on Friday 16 December St Mary’s Cathedral will resound with exquisite Christmas music performed by the St. Mary’s Cathedral Choir and Sinfonia Australis. With choral works by Bach, Handel and Rutter, and a feast of favourite Christmas Carols, this concert is the ideal introduction to the Christmas Season.

Year after year sell-out crowds have been delighted by this traditional Christmas experience which sees the world-famous Choir, orchestra and celebrity readers offer glorious music and verse sure to fill every heart with Christmas cheer.

St Mary’s Cathedral Choir is acknowledged as the oldest musical ensemble in Australia, tracing its origins to 1818. Its angelic boy choristers sing with professional male adult singers, constituting Australia’s only fully professional Cathedral Choir in the tradition of King’s College, Cambridge, and Westminster Cathedral.

In addition to providing music for over 500 church services in the Cathedral each year, the St Mary’s Cathedral Choir gives rare critically acclaimed concerts, and has performed in international festivals, as well as special performances for all the recent popes.

The highlight for many audience members will be the opportunity to join in singing with the choir and orchestra for such favourite carols as ‘O Come, all ye faithful’, ‘Hark the herald angels sing’, ‘Once in royal David’s city’, and more.

At both concerts the Choir and Orchestra will be joined by celebrities and prominent public figures who will deliver seasonal readings throughout the concert.

THE SPOOKY MEN'S CHORALE - Show Postponed

Event Date: 08/12/2022, 07:30 pm

KOOKY SPOOKIES FOR RETURN SYDNEY GIG 8 DECEMBER
Due to family illness this show has been postponed.

Australia’s most hilarious and harmonious men’s vocal group (“We are not a men’s group!”) the SPOOKY MEN
return to the Sydney scene with a BIG gig this December 8 at Marrickville’s Factory Theatre.
With new singers and new songs - as well as fan favourites - this promises to be a concert to delight devotees and fresh fanatics alike!

As thunderous as a herd of wildebeest, as sly as a wagonload of Spike Milligans and as sonorous as a cloister of monks, the Spooky Men’s Chorale are the gift that keeps on giving.
They emerged blithering and blinking-eyed from the Blue Mountains of NSW in 2001, and - armed with no more than their voices, a nice line in deadpan and an ill-matched set of hats - have been gleefully disturbing audiences everywhere since.
