New Theatre presents the Australian premiere of the award-winning London and Broadway hit.
On the morning of St George's Day in a remote corner of rural Wiltshire, Johnny 'Rooster' Byron (a drug-dealing, trance music-loving 'gyppo' who has vodka and cocaine for breakfast) is a wanted man.
The council wants to evict him from his caravan in the woods, his kid wants to be taken to the county fair, his arch-enemy wants to give him a serious beating, and an assortment of hangers-on and no-hopers wants his ample supply of drugs and alcohol.
Jez Butterworth's bold and exuberant play is a comic and anarchic vision of contemporary England's green and pleasant land: a lament on the disintegration of rural communities, the sterility of modern life and the pervasive excesses of the 'nanny state'.
Fast and furious, hysterically funny and more than a touch disturbing, JERUSALEM has been praised as one of the great plays to come out of the UK in the past decade and 'Rooster' regarded as one of the most startlingly original characters to hit the stage.

Sizzling new Australian political satire FRIDAY heats up the Old Fitz.
As the nation gears up for Australia’s upcoming federal election, Sydney Independent Theatre Company (SITCO) presents the world premiere of razor-sharp Australian political satire, FRIDAY by Daniela Giorgi.


Sizzling with sex, secrets and scandals, FRIDAY is a tale of democracy in the land of the long weekend.



Kicking off at the Old Fitzroy Theatre on 6 August, Giorgi’s exploration of power and engagement runs 8pm Tuesday to Saturday and 5pm Sundays until 31 August 2013.



Set in the legislature of a fictitious modern democracy, FRIDAY highlights democracy's precarious and precious nature, scrutinising the personal and political, and the paper-thin division between the two, delving into one of the greatest tensions in modern society: public responsibility versus private desires.



“Given the series of tumultuous political events in Australia in recent times, Giorgi’s funny and at times heartbreaking examination of the challenges and necessity of political engagement is both timely and very relevant,” said Julie Baz, director of FRIDAY and co-artistic director of SITCO.



SITCO’s production of Giorgi’s second full length play features a large ensemble cast including the renowned Gertraud Ingeborg (Street Car Named Desire, STC and US tour, Harlos Productions principal), David Ritchie (Wolverine, Beneath Hill 60, Harlos Productions principal), Adrian Barnes (The Mousetrap Australian tour, UK West End veteran) and Peter Hayes (Whitlam: the Power and the Passion, The Junction Boys). Performing alongside them are some of Sydney’s seasoned and emerging performers: Tim Cole, Jamie Collette, Sinead Curry, Justine Kacir, Emmanuel Nicolaou, Amara Pické, Cherilyn Price, Sarah Robinson and Gemma Scoble.



Set and lighting design is by David Jeffrey, co-artistic director of SITCO. The costume design is by Rachel Scane and the sound design is by multi-award winning composer, Sarah de Jong.

Comedy is back at Sydney's famous Harold Park Hotel
After a smash season at the 2013 Sydney Comedy Festival, Nova’s Nath Valvo returns for one night only on August 13.

Nath has written and performed comedy since he was in his teens, his cult comedy group The Shambles made history with their ‘Best of’ DVD becoming the first ever Channel 31 show to be nominated for an ARIA award.

Since going solo Nath has written and performed 4 solo stand-up shows in 2 years, all of which achieved critical acclaim- no mean feat with the notoriously hard-nosed reviewers at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Every Tuesday night, the 8pm show is hosted by an established comedian MC and headliner, with guest spots from new up and coming talent as well as well-known comedians coming down to try out new material at the hallowed place the likes Robin Williams and Adam Hills have done just that!
