A shock neurological diagnosis sends comedian, marketer, actor, comedy promoter and fundraising manager Dane Hiser on a hilarious deep-dive into “big wellness” and self-discovery – getting close(ish) to finally accepting and loving (yuck!) his true-self and maybe... .just maybe... finding purpose. And it only took 47 years.

WHEN/WHERE: The Sneaky Possum, 86 Abercrombie St, Chippendale - the super welcoming home of excellent food, a thirst-quenching array of beverages, good vibes and “even gooder” times!

Show will be just one hour upstairs, so plenty of time for the inevitable standing ovation, autographs, selfies, and to enjoy that extensive drink range I mentioned!

BIO:
Stepping to the mic for the first time ever in 2008 with a 45 minute set (and another 30 after the break) in a self-produced show at Petersham Bowling Club (yes you read all that right) - Dane is far more confident on stage than he has any right to be.

He’s gigged with comedy icons like The Doug Anthony Allstars, Tony Martin, Peter Helliar, Matt Okine, Fiona O’Loughin, Aaron Chen, Chris Franklin, Tommy Dean, Merrick Watts, Becky Lucas, Cameron James, Mikey Robins, Lizzy Hoo and Stewart Francis (Can).

Dane featured in Matt Okine’s hit Stan TV series ‘The Other Guy’ (S1, EP1) as well as in ads for Aldi, Ryobi One Plus and Nissan X-trail and more!

Between 2011 and 2018, Dane ran his own stand-up comedy room – ‘The Laugh Stand' - in three venues (Kings Cross Hotel, Pelicano, Harold Park Hotel), attracted significant and loyal audiences, and drew many big-name acts (including; Tony Martin, Mikey Robins, Merrick Watts, Tommy Dean, Matt Okine, Peter Berner, Tom Ballard, Fiona O’Loughlin, Tim Ross, and The Doug Anthony Allstars).

The play focuses on a recently widowed writer, George Schneider, who is introduced by his press agent brother to soap opera actress Jennie Malone.
Jennie's marriage to a football player has dissolved after six years. Both are uncertain of their readiness to start dating and developing a new romance when her breakup is so recent and he still has recurring memories of his deceased wife, Barbara.
Not surprisingly, Chapter Two mixes laughter with heartache and is considered to be one of Simon’s finest plays.

The Spooky Men’s Chorale are very proud to present their very special 25th BIG BIRTHDAY GIG at Sydney’s big, spooky Enmore Theatre!

Following on from a gig at the Melbourne Recital Centre and a Queensland tour – the bearded, hatted, sensational singers celebrate “25 years of Pointless Grandeur” in Sydney before heading overseas for a 28-gig UK tour!

The spooky story so far…On 4 August 2001, at Eastside Paddington Church, a genial scrum of bearded fellows shuƯled onto the stage. How could any of us have known that 25 years later they would still be at it after nearly 1000 gigs, 8 albums, 14 tours of UK/Europe, and the small matter of singlehandedly redefining men’s singing?
But they are. And now, in the grandiose arena of the Enmore Theatre, the Spooky Men will celebrate their birthday with a show not quite like any other they have done. It will be a birthday party, a retrospective, and a showcase of everything they have become. There will be a number of chunky gems from the past, but also the very best pickings from their current spooky tool bag.

The Spooky Men are not easy to describe: Founded by Stephen Taberner and Inspired by the great Georgian choirs of the Caucasian mountains, they aim to both celebrate and mock masculinity with a unique cocktail of mighty boofiness, charming stupidity, and exquisite tenderness that may well bring a tear to your eye. Each show is journey rich with theatrical and storytelling elements, but what is most notable is the humanity that is evoked. No subject is too trivial or weighty for their attention, and such ability to find new musical rooms to explore contributes greatly to their astonishing fan loyalty.

Grab a coffee, pull up a chair, and enter the world of Leipzig’s Café Zimmerman, as Bach Akademie Australia presents Collegium Musicum, a three-stop celebration of music and enlightenment, featuring Artistic Director Madeleine Easton, alongside guest performances from some of Australia’s finest Baroque instrumentalists, from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th June. Continuing their extraordinary 2026 season, Australia’s leading Baroque ensemble focuses its attention on the institution that shaped generations of performers and composers alike the Collegium Musicum of Leipzig. Bach Akademie Australia will perform music by its famous founder Telemann and other figures associated with it including Fasch and J.S. Bach – with intimate performances at the Mosman Art.
1702 Leipzig. Bach’s great friend and colleague George Phillip Telemann has just founded The Collegium Musicum, an 18 th century ‘student musical society’, that gives weekly public performances in the old university town. Fast forward to 1729, and the Musicum is now run by Bach, who expands the society’s influence to the artistic melting pots of Leipzig’s coffee houses. Here many of Bach’s most famous works are written and adapted. Artistic Director Madeleine Easton said, the Collegium Musicum was an extraordinary institution fostering the talents of both composers and performers alike. The confluence of Europe’s best musicians with composers of the time has provided a legacy of music that has lasted throughout the centuries and that we celebrate here.This program acknowledges the founder of the Collegium, Telemann, with his ‘Tafelmusick’ his successor Fasch with his Sinfonia in G. As Bach’s great inspiration, Vivaldi is acknowledged with his famous variations on ‘La Folia’, and finally we celebrate the many great concerti written by J.S. Bach for his students at the Collegium including his famous Concerto in D minor for two violins.”
